Further information
My expertise is centered around building a safe space for you, and with you, to explore your issues and help you to recognise any obstacles. Counselling gives you the opportunity to talk openly and honestly about how you feel in a safe and confidential way. This is why the therapist, that you choose and feel the most comfortable with, is so important. Therapy is not about the therapist finding answers for you but about using the therapeutic process to help you find your own answers.
It is very easy to get confused with the many trainings and modalities. Although finding the therapist that ‘’feels right for you’’ is key for your therapy, understanding the modalities used can be useful. I use an integrative counselling model which means that although my main style of counselling is person centred which means ‘’ it starts with you and where you are’’-I also make use of other modalities and notions - such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Psychodynamic, Analytic , as well as use well-being, spiritual and lifestyle notions . This approach allows me to ‘integrate ‘ or pick and choose various tools and skills dependent on what your needs are.
The ‘core conditions ‘ of person-centred counselling require a counsellor to be ‘’empathic’’, ‘’congruent ‘’ and have ‘’unconditional positive regard ‘’for their client- this means that I work in a way that is above all caring, honest and non-judgemental.
I like to work with a wide range of issues. My extensive mental health background provides me with a solid base to work with many varied, significant and sometimes complex issues. Depending on what you are looking for, I can provide Single Session Therapy through to longer term Psychotherapy.
When you email or call me we will work out whether we wish to work together. I can email you service information and we can then contract the day and time of our sessions. Please do call if you have any questions.
