Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information
As a person-centred therapist, I provide a safe and supportive environment to help individuals and couples to navigate a range of emotional and psychological challenges. These include bereavement, domestic violence, menopause issues, couples’ relationship difficulties, and trauma including birth trauma.
Clients want to feel empowered so that they can heal and grow. They will do so if they are fully accepted, their dignity is respected, and they are understood. This is my approach
In the area of trauma, I work with clients to process and move on from abuse, violence, and major life events that have left them distressed, powerless, and stuck. The healing journey begins by helping them to reclaim control.
Anxiety, mental health conditions, and eating disorders are challenges we can face together.
Anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one will tell you that bereavement is a deeply personal experience. The starting point for my work in this area is to give the client the space to express, understand, and process their emotions and allow them to accept their loss while cherishing the memory of their loved one.
Traumatic childbirths can cause major issues for mothers, leading to anxiety, depression, and, possibly, post-traumatic stress disorder. These result from feelings of helplessness and loss of control. I work with mothers to regain their emotional wellbeing and to strengthen the bond with their child.
Working with clients who have suffered sexual abuse and domestic violence, my counselling space provides safety and support to enable them to regain their self worth and to reclaim their lives.
As a nation of animal lovers, our pet can mean everything to us, so, when it dies, the loss can be lasting and painful. Some owners liken their experience to losing a member of the family. I work with clients to process their grief while holding onto precious memories.
The menopause is a major life stage in a woman’s life that can bring a range of both physical and emotional challenges and symptoms. My work involves helping women to progress through this major transition with increased confidence and control.
Couples might face major challenges in their relationships that are characterised by communication breakdown and conflict. My approach is to provide couples with the techniques and tools whether they decide to commit to a life together or to move on separately with dignity and respect.
