About me

I am an experienced Integrative Counsellor, IPT Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Counselling Manager

Emotional difficulties and painful feelings are a fact of life, but sometimes they can become overwhelming, unmanageable and long-lasting that we don’t know what to do or where to turn. Making changes to your lifestyle and talking to friends and family can sometimes help, but if that isn’t an option or isn’t helping, then perhaps it is time to consider talking to a counsellor.

I have helped clients with just 6 sessions and others after years of therapy, everyone is unique and their needs different.  I will want to know what brings you to counselling and then offer to walk along side you while we work out how to get you to where you want to be.

I am someone who will listen without judgement and will support you in coping with your current circumstances. I can offer a fresh and sometimes challenging perspective that will enable you to get to the root of what is troubling you and find a new way through.

By examining your past in detail we can understand the relationships and events that have shaped you, and your more hidden, unconscious thoughts and feelings. The process of exploration will help you discover how you really feel and how to work toward deep and positive change. This can be painful initially but, over time, talking and exploration will lessen your fears, ease your pain and help you feel more in control of aspects of your life.

Counsellors and psychotherapists don't offer advice as what works for one person may not work for another. The therapeutic process offers us the unique opportunity to reflect and find ways of coping that work best for us and our current circumstances.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

IPT UK
Interpersonal Psychotherapy UK (IPT UK)

Interpersonal Psychotherapy UK (IPT UK) is a multi-disciplinary interest group for people involved in the training, practice and theory of Interpersonal Psychotherapy.
