About me
Hello and welcome! By taking a look at my profile I am guessing you are taking the tentative first step towards accessing some counselling either for yourself or someone you know. So let me tell you a little about myself to see if you think I may be someone you would like to see.........
I work face to face or via zoom (or a mix of both) to suit your needs.
I have a cosy and private counselling room in Poets Corner, Wyken with free parking and private access for my face to face work.
I am a qualified and very experienced counsellor, accredited by the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) since 2008. I have been working in private practice with individual adults since 2004. I also supervise the work of other counsellors to ensure they are working in the best interests of their clients.
By continually keeping up to date with additional training over the years I have accumulated a skill base, which includes CBT, that allows me to work with my clients in ways which best suit their needs.
I work with most issues and difficulties that can present in our lives at any given time and work with clients for short or long term work. I am also very flexible on how frequently you are able to attend if finances are difficult.
I feel everyone is totally unique in both their experiences and the way they interpret them, and will therefore work alongside you in tailoring the therapy in a way that best suits your needs.
I am aware that sometimes the decision to attend counselling can be quite difficult.
If you are unsure if counselling is right for you at this moment in time and would like to talk this through, I offer a free 15 minute telephone appointment to discuss this with you.
Or if you would just like to take the plunge and book an appointment please contact me on 07749 115951 or email karenclark68@aol.com.
If I am with a client please leave a message and I will contact you as soon as I am free.
Thank you for considering me as your therapist, I hope to hear from you soon.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
