Karen Anderson- Registered MBACP (Accred), BSc (Hons) Psych, FD Counselling
This is such a difficult time for all of us, as our resolve and endurance is being tested by the current lockdown situation.
I am currently working with my existing clients who have chosen to move their sessions to online or telephone sessions with me, and I have completed emergency BACP approved training to continue to support them this way but this only covers existing clients.
As it stands, according to the guidance from my governing body BACP, only therapists who have the correct experience or emergency training in place should embark on sessions this way.
For new clients to be engaged, therapists should have completed a more comprehensive minimum 80 hour specialist training.
Please do be very aware of this when choosing a therapist to work with online.
I am currently working on accessing my own specialist training to be able to take on new clients, and I hope to be available to offer online and telephone support to new clients as soon as possible. I am expecting that the current 80 hour specialist training will be adapted and distilled for this emergency situation and will embark on that training as soon as it is available.
Thank you for your patience, and do get in touch to discuss timescales or to be placed on my waiting list.
Stay safe and my very best wishes at this unprecedented time.
Counsellor, Psychotherapist & Registered Member MBACP (Accred)
If you have been struggling, feeling overwhelmed perhaps, with issues causing you to worry and it feels like you need to find a way forward, counselling can help you to make sense of your thoughts and feelings by offering a non-judgmental, confidential place for you.
Sometimes we just need a place without the pressure of responsibilities, a space to have for ourselves, away from the stresses of our usual routine and commitments.
By talking things through together, counselling can often release the pressures and emotions you may be experiencing and can help you to identify what's behind your thoughts and feelings. This so often can create a sense of relief and clarity, which may pave the way for you to explore how changes and strategies can help you to cope and move forward.
I have supported many clients coping with many challenges but by far the most common are anxiety and stress related issues. The pressures of day to day living can really prove so challenging within our relationships, ourselves and everyday lives. I hope to help you to explore how you can feel back in control, when sometimes it feels like we're not.
I know it can be daunting to take the first step to ask for support, so I offer the option of a free 20 minute confidential telephone consultation before any session.
I am a registered and BACP accredited counsellor/psychotherapist, trained as an Integrative counsellor/psychotherapist. I utilise Person Centred, CBT and Psychodynamic therapies to help my clients gain insights, address problems and worries, with a non-judgmental, honest and sensitive approach.
We may also work creatively in a number of different ways, such as using art work, objects and journaling to assist you in exploring your feelings.
I have particular experience supporting clients with:
Anxiety, Bereavement, Depression, Loss, Personal Development, Relationship Issues, Self Esteem, Substance Dependency & Addiction(s), Stress, Trauma, Work & Exam Stress related issues and concerns Young Adults face.
