About me
I am a counsellor who can help with excessive worry, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, lack of confidence - perhaps you have imposter syndrome, face new responsibilities, are working after a break, or have to deal with persistent criticism . All of which can take it’s toll mentally.
If you are experiencing any of these issues or dealing with a challenging life event, it can feel powerful and overwhelming leaving you unable to function.
You have taken the first step forward and recognised it is time to seek support and allow someone to help you process it all.
* Processing* - to fully understand what has happened and identify and acknowledge the impact on you.
I practice Person Centered counselling, so we will focus on what you are going through right now and what you talk about each time we meet will be up to you.
As your counsellor, I will listen without judgement or criticism but I may gently challenge you if in the interests of your personal growth. Through guided conversations, we might delve into the past, spotlight your feelings, reflect upon values, aspirations, triggers and behaviours, we might look at ways to manage stress and anxiety. It really does depend on what you want to talk about each week and there is no pressure to talk about things you don't want to.
You CAN talk freely, and it may be hard. It takes time and courage to talk about difficult feelings or situations, and to a stranger - and even more so if you are someone who finds it particularly difficult or uncomfortable opening up to people.
Please don't put off getting help, even if it's not with me, there is someone out there for you. Booking an introductory call is like sampling what counselling will be like with me or anyone else and there is no obligation to book future sessions.
I currently offer online or telephone counselling.
Trainee counselling students accepted. concession.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I work remotely over Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, FaceTime or WhatsApp or over the telephone. For both online and telephone sessions, I ask that you are in a private and confidential space with no-one else present where you cannot be overheard. This is for both of us, for our privacy, your confidentiality and our safety.
Remote and telephone sessions offer flexibility and convenience with regards to travel, time and cost and telephone sessions in particular are helpful if you have social anxiety, or are particularly self conscious.
There can be drawbacks to telephone counselling in that I can't see your facial expressions or read your body language, and many counsellors find telephone counselling challenging for this reason. Personally I don't find this to be an issue as it enables me to hyper focus on what you are saying and I gather information from your tone of voice, your spacing and your inflection without visual cues.
