About me
HOME VISITS and ONLINE sessions.
Negative mental health can feel like a constant, overwhelming presence, affecting how you think, feel, and interact with the world around you. From sleepless nights to persistent worry and avoidance, anxiety often feels like a battle fought alone. It can touch every aspect of life, making daily tasks seem daunting and disrupting your emotional well-being. In a client-centred approach to understanding anxiety, the focus is on you—your experiences, your feelings, and your path to healing. You are not defined by your anxiety, and through compassionate support, you can regain control of your life.
Hello, and thank you for taking a look. As you are reading, it may suggest that you have probably already decided to look into an aspect of your life that is troubling you, and are shopping around to see which counsellor piques your interest. So to help with your decision, I'd like to introduce myself, Julie Sharpe. I am a mother to two adult children and my profession is a person-centred counsellor, I currently work with adults, 18 to the more senior years.

I appreciate that taking the first step toward wellness can often feel daunting, but I want to reassure you that we can navigate the path together. Whenever you’re ready, I'm here to support you.
I invite you to reach out, beginning your journey toward a fulfilling and balanced mindset. Together, we can explore any stress, anxiety, or unresolved issues you may be facing, ensuring that your well-being takes priority.
I tailor techniques and offer coping strategies to support you through family, social or work-related relationship challenges, right through to personal growth and the relationship you have with yourself.
I offer creative ways of working, for those times when emotions may be difficult to explore verbally, The mediums I often use with clients are; drawing, moulding, the use of emotion and/ or trauma cards, timelines and more - tailored to whatever works for you. We have all experienced times when we just can't find the words, or saying the word is just too painful. In these times, working creatively is a particularly useful way to explore self and the difficulties attached.
Your path is important and I’m committed to helping you develop the skills that we all need to face the twists and turns that life can bring - with confidence, strength and resilience. We can work through your struggles together, building on your self-confidence and realising that you always have options. I will treat you as the expert on yourself, I will not judge you, no matter what you bring to the session.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
