About me

Hi, I’m Julie — and I’m glad you’re here.

Reaching out for support isn’t always easy, especially when life feels overwhelming, uncertain, or just too much. Whatever has brought you to this point, you don’t have to go through it alone.

Choosing the right therapist is a personal decision. If you’d like to have a free, no-pressure initial chat to see how we might work together, I’d be really happy to hear from you.

My approach is rooted in empathy, honesty, and genuine human connection. I work in a person-centred way, while also drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches. No two people are the same, so I adapt my way of working to meet you as an individual — always at a pace that feels right for you, and without judgment or pressure.

Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, low self-worth, grief, relationship difficulties, or something harder to name, this space is yours to be heard, understood, and supported. Together, we can explore what’s coming up for you, helping you make sense of things and move toward greater clarity and self-understanding.

I don’t believe therapy is about “fixing.” Instead, it’s about being seen, supported, and given the space to grow in your own time. You already carry inner strength — sometimes it just helps to have someone walk alongside you.

Issues I Work With:

• Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm

• Low self-esteem and self-worth

• Grief, loss, and bereavement

• Depression and low mood

• Relationship challenges

• Trauma and difficult childhood experiences

• Emotional regulation

• Life transitions and personal growth

• Work-related stress

• Identity and self-acceptance

How I Work:

My style is integrative, which means I tailor therapy to suit your individual needs. Alongside my person-centred foundation, I may bring in elements of mindfulness, creative approaches, or psychoeducation.

Above all, I aim to provide a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your inner world in your own way.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience/Training

Working in the NHS allowed me to support individuals facing complex Throughout my years of working as a counsellor, I have experience working across the NHS, mental health charities, addiction services, and both primary and secondary schools.

I’ve supported people with a wide range of mental health difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, trauma, addiction, grief, self-harm, and relationship issues. long-term mental health challenges, often during times of significant distress.

I learned the importance of holding space for people when life feels overwhelming, and how powerful it can be to feel truly heard and understood.

My time with a mental health charity and in addiction services allowed me to work more holistically, often with people who had experienced multiple layers of difficulty, such as housing issues, isolation, and stigma, helping them find their strengths and rebuild their sense of self.

In schools, I’ve worked with children and young people who are navigating everything from friendship issues to anxiety, family changes, and identity.

I believe that early support can make a significant difference, and I’m passionate about helping young people develop emotional awareness and resilience from an early age.

Across all these settings, my focus has always been on building a trusting, non-judgmental relationship where people feel safe to open up and explore whatever they’re going through.

Whilst all of my working experiences have had a huge advantage on me as a Counsellor and how I enter into the world of the clients,  I believe first and foremost that my own life experiences have offered just as much or more.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
