About me
Hello, my name is Julian. My approach is based in a friendly and open attitude to those who I am supporting, which draws from personal ethics based in care and responsibility. As well as these personal ethics, my practice works in accordance with the BACP ethical framework.
I offer ecotherapeutic counselling, to provide a holistic therapeutic experience for clients. This is based on an integration of the ecotherapeutic models of shinrin yoku and wild therapy with the psychotherapeutic approaches of person centred therapy, existential therapy, gestalt therapy, psychosynthesis and transactional analysis - I can also include mindfulness exercises and/or philosophical therapy in our work, if these would be useful to you. This is to seek to provide a therapy experience that meets the unique individuality of the client/you and their/your life experience with regards to your being in the wholeness of the world.
My practice is anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive, which means that I actively work to ensure fair and equal treatment for everyone, regardless of race/ethnicity, religion/belief or non-religion/disbelief, sexual orientation, gender, biological sex, age, ability, marital status or national origin, and seek to prevent and challenge discrimination and oppression. This means that I would not decline working with you based on any of the aforementioned characteristics. This also means that in our work I will seek to prevent or challenge any discriminating or oppressive treatment towards you whilst working outdoors. As an active anti-oppression and anti-discrimination practitioner, I might ask how I can better support you at points throughout our work, to improve the support that I provide; you are free to not say how I could do this, but this might impact on my ability to support you - we can return to this as needed throughout our work.
If you have any questions not answered on this page please get in contact or review my website.

I also hold a Shinrin Yoku basic practitioner certificate and am completing a diploma in Shinrin Yoku through Nature and Therapy UK, as well as a certificate in Outdoor First Aid. I also have a certificate through Exeter University in Peer-Support. Prior to working as a therapist, I have worked as a peer-mentor, a special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) teaching assistant, a residential support worker supporting vulnerable young people and as an assisted living care worker.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
