About me

Hi, I'm Joy. I work with a wide range of issues, covering work and personal life.

As an integrative relational counsellor, I provide a supportive, empathic and non-judgmental space; where feelings can be safely explored together, to enable a deeper understanding of yourself.

I strongly believe in our capacity as human beings to thrive rather than just survive and our right to be our authentic self, living a joyful, satisfying life. If you feel you would like more from your life or you are suffering from a particular issue such as anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties or work/academic related issues, I would love to hear from you.

I offer short or long-term counselling, where we can work collaboratively, agreeing your goals and aims together. I aim to be alongside you to support and facilitate your journey, respecting your pace.

My integrative training means that I draw on a range of theories and techniques. We will often work holistically, drawing on the physical, emotional and intellectual aspects of your experience.

I consider myself an open minded, down-to-earth person with a genuine curiosity and love of difference and diversity. I worked for a travel company for many years which enabled me to travel the world, immersing myself in a world of cultures. Before becoming a counsellor, my background included many senior roles in marketing. This has given me a valuable insight into the world of work, organisational life, team dynamics and career issues.

I am a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), psychotherapeutic counselling section.

I am a registered member of the UKCP (The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and I follow their code of ethics to ensure good practice with my clients.

Training, qualifications & experience

My training

Further to my Bsc (Hons) Degree in Psychotherapeutic Counselling I have undertaken additional training in the following (here is a snapshot of a few of those) :

Anger Management, Trauma, ADHD, Polyvagal Theory, Health Anxiety, Bereavement & loss

I trained at Matrix College of Counselling and Psychotherapy for three years, achieving a BSc (Hons) Degree in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.   Whilst completing my training, I was a volunteer counsellor for three years at the One2One Project, a charity in Norfolk, where I worked with a range of clients who came into the service for issues such as trauma, anxiety, sexual abuse, low mood, loss of direction and grief.

In addition to my Degree course, I regularly undertake further development in areas that can enhance and develop my practice.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

General dissatisfaction in life: Often we can feel lost in life, lacking in direction, unfulfilled;  we can work together to look at your circumstances through a different lens.

Career issues: The workplace can present challenges and a myriad of dynamics to navigate.  Being able to understand these and your own responses can provide renewed clarity.
