Training, qualifications & experience
I am a discreet, empathetic and compassionate clinician and consultant who brings a combination of academic and clinical experience of working with clients across the lifespan. I adopt an integrated approach, meeting clients where they are with holistic, trauma-informed and evidence-based practice. I work as a fellow traveler, facilitating a journey of self-discovery.
Education & Clinical Experience
I have 7 years of higher education and training - a Masters degree in Counseling from Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School where I now teach as Adjunct Faculty for the Life Development Class, in addition to training in the UK with a 2 year PdDip in Addiction Psychology and Counseling with concurrent year long specialization at Place 2 Be resulting in being placed in a Central London school. I have worked in residential, outpatient, harm reduction, abstinence, 12 step, non 12 step, school counseling with children, private practice, child and family services in addition to varied clinical cultures and approaches across the UK and US. I have concurrently specialized in prevention. Having lived internationally, I am able to adapt to my clients’ outlook and to be considerate of cultural contexts, bias and influences.
Research, Advocacy & Education
In addition to our work, I serve on the Editorial Board for the American Counseling Association for Practice Briefs as a Subject Matter Expert, contribute to active research projects and present at international conferences.
Recovery Approach
In terms of addiction recovery clients, whether you are abstinent or are simply questioning your relationship to alcohol and want to explore reducing your intake, my predominant goal is to help you achieve your goals - not mine, and to help reduce pain and shame in the individual and/or family system so that you can unlock your potential.
My Approach
Therapy should be tailored to your specific needs. Whether you’re facing personal struggles, relationship challenges, or deep-rooted family dynamics, I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where healing is possible.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
