About me

Hi I’m Josh, a registered integrative psychotherapist and yoga teacher. I specialise in aligning the body and mind. I deeply value the rights of all human beings and will actively support anyone feeling marginalised. Having experienced expected and unexpected loss I also understand the effects of grief. See the rest of my profile for more about me…

My Qualifications and Approach

I have a MSc in Psychology and a MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, equipping me with the essential skills to assist you effectively.

Integrative psychotherapy is a versatile approach that draws from diverse therapeutic techniques and theories to meet the unique needs of each client. By drawing from modalities such as psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and humanistic approaches, I can effectively address the intricate nature of my clients' challenges. This method is enhanced by a collaborative approach, where I actively engage clients in the therapeutic process. I encourage them to share their insights and preferences, and together, we establish goals and develop strategies. My client-therapist relationship cultivates a supportive environment, empowering clients to take an active role in their healing journey.

Additionally, my background as a yoga instructor and personal trainer for over ten years allows me to bring a unique perspective to therapy. Along with my prior training I have been influenced by Dr Bessel Van Der Kolk’s book 'The Body Keeps The Score'. I understand that the body can hold onto trauma, often manifesting as physical tension, pain, or other stress-related symptoms reflecting the deep connection between our emotional experiences and physical wellbeing. I also understand how working with the body can empower a positive change in psychological wellbeing.  I strive to create a comprehensive and holistic therapeutic experience for my clients.

Furthermore, as a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am committed to ethical practice and ongoing professional development, ensuring the highest standards of care and confidentiality.

What I Offer

- I offer in-person therapy sessions at The Life Force Centre on Thursday evenings and at The Old Joinery Studio during weekdays.

- I also offer remote online sessions throughout the week.

Sessions at the Life Force centre and online are traditional 50 minute talk therapy sessions. Depending on the client's needs, sessions at the studio can be longer and can incorporate yoga and/or strength training whilst engaging in talk therapy.

Online therapy offers convenience and flexibility allowing you to engage in sessions from the comfort of your home or away from home. If going to a therapy centre feels intimidating then starting your journey online could be for you.

My Values

I appreciate the unique challenges that individuals from all demographics face, and I believe it is essential to provide a safe and inclusive space for all individuals regardless of age, gender, sexuality, race, culture, and/or religious beliefs. Furthermore, I am deeply committed to promoting both the health of our planet and the protection of all human rights. I firmly believe that our individual well-being is intricately linked to the overall well-being of the world we live in.

My approach to therapy is rooted in compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those who are struggling or just uncertain in their current point of their life. I bring a fresh perspective and a genuine understanding of the challenges faced by people of all backgrounds.

I am here to support you, to help you navigate life's challenges, whether that is anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, family issues, trauma, and so on, with the aim to empower you to create positive change. Together, we can work towards your personal growth, inner strength, and overall well-being.

I look forward to joining you on this transformative journey.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
