About me

Hello.  Thank you for reading my profile. I am an integrative psychotherapist and I work with couples and with individuals.  I specialise in a range of areas; understanding and living with your adult-ADHD diagnosis, working with neuro-diverse clients, working with stress, anxiety, depression, imposter syndrome, grief, bereavement, and relationship problems.  But alongside that, I see people for a whole range of other issues too.  Couples come to me when they need help to move forward, and I have a designated page on my website all about what couples counselling is and how it can help.

For individuals and couples, there are many questions that may bring you to therapy.  Do you feel like you're not coping? Do you find yourself repeating the same patterns of behaviour? Does it feel like just one more thing may happen, and all the wheels will fall off? Do you look at yourself and not recognise who you are right now, and wonder where the person you used to be has gone?  I can help.

As a psychotherapist based in Bishop's Stortford, I work with clients facing a wide array of issues.  I provide an empathetic and welcoming space where you will feel listened to and supported as you navigate the issues you wish to address at a pace that suits you. As a qualified integrative therapist, I use a variety of approaches such as psychodynamics, person-centred therapy, CBT therapy, and somatic nervous system work, enabling you to tackle your challenges in the way that works best for you.

For couples, I use Imago therapy, Emotional Focused Therapy and The Gottman Method.  Additionally, I have experience working with LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse clients, adapting my methods to best support your unique needs.

I have extensive experience of working with teenagers in a stress-management, anxiety-management capacity.  This approach focuses on the relaxing benefits of hypnotherapy alongside teaching self-soothing strategies, and looking at things from a different lense.

I can offer you, or your teenager, sessions that are empathetic, and non-judgemental, where you can speak freely. Together, I can help you process what is going on for you, going at your pace to discover whatever comes next.

Further information

Please have a look at my testimonials to see how I have worked with others:

Jo has helped me more over the last few months than anyone has in the last few years - she gave me the tools to deal with my thoughts and actions around my relationships with my family and friends, and how to better manage my ADHD and my feelings surrounding it. She is an absolutely incredible person.

I feel like we’ve come a really long way & seeing Jo every week is now part of my routine.

I can't thank you enough for the past few months; I feel like you have given me the confidence to truly accept myself for who I am, and to recognise that it's okay for my values to have changed - I'm not that kid anymore, and I don't need to carry that weight with me.
