About me
I believe therapy should help clients connect to their own power within and access insight to identify the tools required to work through underlying root causes. I strive to create a comfortable atmosphere in sessions and I'm sensitive to helping people who have had negative experiences in therapy in the past.
Born in Yorkshire with a Chinese and Spanish heritage and a background in Social Policy and Sociology I have been described with an innate awareness and intersectional understanding of the many barriers people face in society that inhibits access to our erotic selves. This balances me in a multicultural, nuanced, non judgmental and trauma informed way of thinking. The psychotherapeutic approach I employ with individuals and relationships is integrative humanistic.
Working alongside clients, I fuse psychodynamic, existential, gestalt, person-centred with a deep understanding of intergenerational trauma, grief, loss, attachment theory and queer theory with holistic approaches to health and wellness.
I see eroticism as an important dimension of human essence. My approach style is grounded, thoughtful and relational. I'm passionately curious in unlocking sexual potential. I believe there are no limits in our awareness and growth towards achieving optimal sexuality.
I regard my role as empowering clients, supporting and guiding them through that process, achieving sustainable internal changes and expansive growth as a result..
I am GSRD affirming and qualified in GSRD affirmative therapy. GSRD being the preferred acronym that goes beyond the exclusivity and restrictions of LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans) which includes everyone on the gender spectrum and diverse sexualities and practices including BDSM/Kink, asexualities, consensual and non-monogamies. I regard social inter-connectedness, freedom, sovereignty and the right to self-determination as pre-requisites towards enriching and forging deeper long-lasting connections and change-oriented harmony.
I have specific training and qualifications to work with relationships and psychosexual issues. I use evidence based theoretical approaches and achieve succesful outcomes with my clients as a result.
Training, qualifications & experience
I studied Psychology and Counselling at Regents University before going into my studies in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy. I first trained and worked within both NHS led and private clinics on Harley Street and Great Portland Street. I currently works in private practice and in a team of expert clinicians at the Thought house partnership.
Informed by somatic trauma training with Babette Rothschild, I integrate self-regulation tools to help clients access a greater sense of safety and connection within themselves. Trauma often resides in the body and can manifest in psychosexual and relational issues.
My background in Social Policy and Sociology has enabled me to apply a social justice lens when working with clients, allowing me to recognise and address societal barriers that may shape their experiences. This perspective helps me understand how systemic inequalities, cultural norms and structural oppression maybe negatively impacting a clients’ psychosexual well-being. This can often manifest as shame, distress and/or relational challenges. I’m able to critique mainstream psychological approaches that can sometimes pathologise the individual and overlook the barriers within society.
I've dedicated extensive time to researching and co-writing a chapter for the book Sexual Minorities and Mental Health, published in 2023
