About me
My approach aims to explore what psychodynamic theory calls your 'core pain', ways of coping, unconscious desires and motivations (as much as we can know). The more we are able to be honest with ourselves, the better chance we have of living the life we actually want. In the ending phase of therapy we can attend to how you can continue to find meaning and purpose in your community.
My style is informed by the latest research into psychotherapy outcomes. I aim to utilise what we know regarding the effectiveness of shared-decision making to agree a focus and ensure consent is explicitly agreed throughout. I also respect your time and resources, therefore I welcome people who are motivated and committed to build a therapeutic alliance, to begin progressive changes towards the life that you want. Because this work is challenging, I only offer longer-term therapies (greater than 6 months) as this work takes time to do safely. I look forward to meeting you for a first in-person consultation.
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm registered as a Counselling Psychologist with the HCPC. My professional doctorate focussed on specialism in Adult Psychotherapy, and required my own personal therapy so I know how psychotherapy can help. I'm also a Lead Psychologist and Supervisor within a NHS psychological interventions department.
My approach prioritises working at depth, using Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, which explores your subjective understanding of your: historical, interpersonal, psychological, sexual, and spiritual contexts which constitute your internal world. I'm also interested in your hopes for the future, and how therapy can help.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
