About me

Hi, I'm John McRandal - a qualified Counsellor and I have over 5 years experience in supporting mental health both in my private practice and within my local community. I specialise in offering a nurturing approach to clients, based on the principles of Person-Centred and Psychodynamic counselling through an IFS (Internal Family Systems) lens, so as to provide an effective space to explore the issues and concerns which are affecting you the most. In this we can work flexibly together to meet your needs in the moment whilst maintaining the overall focus to achieve your goals in the best way possible.

My ethos is based around the acknowledgement that we are all affected by our environments. I believe we cannot avoid encountering pain and trauma along the way however underneath all of this there is enough love and compassion to bring about the healing we need. Sometimes we just need a little support to help us see the strength that's inside.

I know it's difficult to sit with a stranger and discuss your most vulnerable feelings and because of this I will always endeavour to make you feel as safe and comfortable as possible. There are many reasons why people attend therapy and they are all valid so please don't think you have to face the difficulties in your life alone.

I offer long or short term therapy to clients to meet your needs and I'm happy to discuss the best option based on your availability, financial situation etc.

If you are interested in finding out more about the therapy I offer you are welcome to text or email, including your full name, phone number and an appropriate time to contact you back. I offer a free 15 minute consultation call to discuss your needs and answer any questions you may have before deciding whether or not you want to book a session. During this initial stage in our communication I will also provide the relevant information to allow you to make an informed choice regarding what would be best for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Integrative) - CPCAB

Level 1 Training in IFS (Internal Family Systems)

These qualifications have given me a wide range of knowledge and skills centred around wellbeing and mental health and are invaluable in helping to find the right approach to working with a diverse client base. You are unique and I will use all of my experience, training and skills to make you feel like it.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
