About me

As a psychodynamic counsellor, I can work alongside you to unpack what’s going on for you in a confidential space that’s focused on you. You might be struggling with feelings like anger, anxiety and depression. There may be a loss you’re trying to process, or the impact of a different kind of change in your life. You might have noticed the same difficulties coming up again and again in your relationships. Or maybe there’s something else and you feel like you can’t talk to anyone you know about it. When these parts of our lives go unattended, we know that it can spill out and negatively impact us day to day.

Psychodynamics focuses on the unconscious; the parts of our mind that we bury away, the stuff that's hard to face. Relief can be found in a therapeutic space that allows us to get in touch with these parts of ourselves, parts that sometimes we don't even realise are there.

I can work in an open ended way, with no set limit to the number of sessions, or we can agree on a set number of sessions and work with a specific focus in mind. Due to the uniqueness of every person, it is hard to say how long counselling will last for each for person, but we can explore what would be useful and what feels "right" together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained with Gloucestershire Counselling Services, receiving a BPC accredited psychodynamic counsellor diploma.

I am an accredited member of the BACP as a psychodynamic counsellor with over 5 years experience working one to one with clients.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
