Counsellor and Psychotherapist, Registered MBACP (Accred)

About me

Jody Jones, BSc (Hons), MBACP (Accred)
Counsellor & Psychotherapist

I offer a confidential and supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and able to explore what is troubling you at your own pace. I provide online therapy for individuals and couples, with weekday and evening appointments available, with my last session each day at 8:00 PM.

As a qualified and accredited integrative therapist and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I bring over 10 years of experience supporting adults, couples, children, and families. I am also a qualified child play therapist and have worked extensively with individuals facing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally numb, or struggling to make sense of certain patterns in your life. You might be dealing with loss, significant life changes, or the impact of past experiences that continue to affect you in the present.

You may be asking yourself:

  • Why do I feel stuck or unable to move forward?
  • Why do I keep repeating the same patterns?
  • Why do I feel unheard, misunderstood, or disconnected?
  • How can I feel more confident, stable, and in control of my life?

Whatever you are facing, counselling offers a space to explore your thoughts and emotions safely, without judgement. At times, present difficulties can connect to earlier experiences or unresolved feelings, and therapy can help you begin to make sense of these links.

Through our work together, you can develop a deeper understanding of yourself, process difficult emotions, and begin to make meaningful and lasting changes. The therapeutic relationship provides a safe and consistent space where you can explore your experiences openly and at your own pace.

I believe that you already have the capacity for change. My role is to support and guide you in understanding yourself more fully and moving forward in a way that feels right for you.

How I Work
My approach is integrative, which means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to suit your individual needs. I do not believe there is a “one size fits all” approach to therapy, and I will work with you in a way that feels supportive, appropriate, and effective for you.

At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I aim to provide a space where you feel safe, understood, and able to speak openly, without fear of judgement. Building trust is an important part of the process, and I work at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Sessions offer the opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences more deeply. At times this may involve reflecting on patterns, past experiences, or relationships, and how these may be affecting you in the present. Where helpful, I may gently challenge or offer different perspectives to support you in making sense of your experiences.

I recognise that starting therapy can feel daunting, and I will work with you in a way that feels containing and respectful of your boundaries. You are always in control of what you choose to share.

Over time, therapy can help you to develop greater self-awareness, process difficult emotions, and make changes that feel meaningful and lasting.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD): For individuals struggling with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety-related symptoms, I offer Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the evidence-based treatment recognised as most effective for OCD. I support clients to gradually face feared situations while reducing compulsive behaviours, helping to break the cycle of anxiety. In my experience, clients often experience meaningful reductions in anxiety and OCD symptoms over time.

Trauma & Abuse: I have extensive experience working with individuals affected by trauma and abuse, including childhood trauma, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. I offer a safe, supportive space to explore difficult experiences at your own pace, helping you to make sense of their impact and develop ways of coping that feel manageable. My approach is relational and integrative, supporting you to rebuild a sense of safety, stability, and self-understanding.

Bereavement & Loss: I offer support for individuals experiencing bereavement, grief, and significant life loss, including loss through illness, suicide, or the loss of a child. Grief can be complex and deeply personal, and I provide a compassionate space where you can explore your feelings without pressure or judgement. Together, we can work towards understanding your experience and finding ways to live alongside your loss.

Couples Counselling: I provide couples counselling for partners experiencing difficulties in their relationship, including communication challenges, conflict, emotional distance, and issues around trust. I offer a balanced and non-judgemental space where both partners can feel heard, while helping you to understand patterns within your relationship and find more constructive ways of relating to one another.

Neurodiversity (Autism & ADHD): I have experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those with Autism and ADHD. I offer a flexible and understanding approach, recognising that traditional therapy may not always feel accessible or appropriate. Together, we can explore emotional regulation, relationships, and day-to-day challenges, working in a way that supports your individual needs and strengths.
