About me
Hello, I’m Jodie, I work as an integrative counsellor that uses psychodynamic, cognitive behaviour and humanistic approaches. Reaching out for support is hard, but this can be the first step in trying to move forward at a time when things can feel stuck and hopeless. I work to try to help you understand yourself and your past in a supportive way and at a pace that you feel comfortable with. In order to change patterns of behaviour it helps to understand yourself in a supportive way and at a pace that you feel comfortable with. I am very relaxed and work in an informal way.
I aim to improve your confidence and allow you to understand aspects of your self by helping you explore your thoughts and emotions in both the past and present. I provide a safe and secure space for you to explore your emotions without the feeling of being judged or undermined.
Having counselling enables you to rediscover yourself in a safe place, where you can go at your own pace and allow yourself to release your true emotions that may have been hidden for some time.
My Background is Nursing where I worked in both Maternity & Neonatal Nursing. Therefore I am keen to specialise in baby loss, birth trauma, Pregnancy Trauma and other related pregnancy, baby, birthing issues. I have real life experience in this area and can offer a full support.
Training, qualifications & experience
I bring a strong clinical and therapeutic background to my work. I spent 16 years working as a registered nurse, with the majority of my experience in maternity and neonatal care. During this time, I worked closely with individuals and families during periods of significant physical, emotional, and psychological change, developing a calm, compassionate, and grounded approach to care.
I have been practising as a counsellor since 2021 and am trained as an integrative counsellor to Level 5. My counselling training equips me to work flexibly and responsively, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to meet the individual needs of each client. I am committed to working ethically, reflectively, and in line with professional standards.
Continuing professional development is an important part of my practice. I complete a minimum of 30 hours of CPD annually to ensure my work remains informed, up to date, and responsive to current research and best practice. This ongoing learning supports both my clinical skills and my ability to work safely and effectively with a wide range of presenting issues.
