About me

Hello, my name is Jo, and I offer therapeutic support to adults (18+) through face-to-face sessions, online, or by telephone.

Reaching out for therapy can feel daunting, but it’s also a courageous step toward caring for yourself. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, exhausted from trying to hold it all together, feeling as though despite reassurance from others you are not enough or stuck and not knowing where to go or what to do next, I welcome you to get in touch for a confidential session where we can explore what is happening for you together.

As a compassionate and experienced therapist, I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can express your thoughts and feelings openly. I have extensive experience supporting individuals with a range of issues, including trauma, abuse, ADHD, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties. I work with people from all walks of life, valuing the uniqueness of each individual.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in humanistic values and informed by person-centred therapy, trauma-informed practice, and the expressive arts. I work in a pluralistic way, which means we will collaborate to find the approach that best suits your personal needs and goals.

I believe that meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship—one based on empathy, trust, and mutual respect. Through a blend of deep listening, thoughtful reflection, and practical tools, I support clients in building insight, strengthening self-awareness, and developing healthier ways of coping.

Sessions are 50 minutes long, and I currently offer appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

What to do next
If you're interested in working together, please feel free to email or call me. I’ll respond as soon as possible with my current availability and next steps.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a level 6 qualified therapist with a BA (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling.

I have extensive experience working within a sexual and domestic abuse counselling organisation and have worked both long-term and short-term to address abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, self-confidence and relationship issues. I also have an interest in working with adults who have been diagnosed with ADHD or suspect they might have ADHD.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
