About me
You don't need to have the right words or a clear plan to start therapy. If things feel heavy, overwhelming or just ‘off’ my role is to sit alongside you as we work through things at your pace. From big life changes to ongoing daily struggles, whatever you're carrying you don't have to do it alone.
I’m Jo, a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor helping people move from anxious, stressed and overwhelmed to feeling calmer and more steady in themselves.
I know how exhausting it is when your mind never really switches off and you’re on constant on high alert. When you think deeply it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, overstimulated and be hard on yourself.
How I can help
I support people with a wide range of challenges including but not limited to:
- General anxiety and overwhelm
- Low self-esteem, self-doubt and low self-worth
- Relationship or family issues
- Childhood trauma
- Emotional abuse
- Perinatal mental health (pregnancy, birth, postnatal and parenting)
- Women’s emotional wellbeing
- ADHD and Autism in adults (including late diagnosis and self-identification)
Alongside talking therapy, I also offer hypnotherapy and mindfulness as complementary approaches. These can be particularly helpful when working with automatic reactions, such as fears and phobias, or long-standing patterns that feel hard to shift through talking alone.
Neurodiversity
As an AuDHD therapist I offer neuro-affirming therapy, which means I see differences in how we think, feel and experience the world as valid, even if it has often felt like something that needs to be fixed. Many of the people I work with are autistic, ADHD, or exploring their neurotype, and some are parents of neurodivergent children, often trying to understand both their own experience and their child’s. Most are looking for a space where they can feel comfortable enough to be themselves without masking or constantly feeling like they are getting it wrong.
What therapy with with me is like
Therapy with me is a gentle space where we work at your pace. You don’t need to have the “right words” or know exactly where to start. We can make sense of things together in a way that feels manageable, especially if you are used to overthinking, self-doubt, or feeling like you are constantly coping on the edge of burnout.
It’s a very human space. You can talk things through as they come, in your own way. I’m not here to judge you, analyse you from a distance, or tell you how you should be coping. I’m here to listen, to understand what’s going on for you, and to support you in making sense of it.
Over time, therapy can help you understand yourself more deeply, process your experiences, loosen patterns that feel stuck, and start to relate to yourself with a bit more kindness and steadiness.
Ways we can work together
I offer in-room, outdoor (walk and talk) and online sessions, so you can choose a way of working that feels most comfortable for you. Some people prefer the consistency of a room, others like being outside in nature, and some find online sessions feel easier to fit around everyday life, especially if they are managing work stress, parenting demands, or burnout.
I offer both short and long-term therapy, depending on your goals and preferences, and sessions can be weekly or at a longer frequency. You can also choose to keep the same regular slot each week, or book more flexibly from week to week if that suits your lifestyle better.
Getting started
Choosing the right therapist is such a personal decision, and finding the right fit really matters. If you’re curious about whether we might work well together, a free 15-minute introductory call is a good place to start. You’re very welcome to email me or visit my website to book.
Training, qualifications & experience
Before training as a counsellor, I worked in marketing and project management within the IT industry where I learnt first-hand how workplace stress and burnout can affect wellbeing. After having my children, I began supporting parents in local children’s centres, offering emotional support during what can often be a very vulnerable and demanding stage of life. Sitting alongside new mums in this way, listening, supporting, and helping to normalise and process their experiences, was what led me to train as a counsellor.
Alongside my private practice, I work as an outdoor therapist for a local charity, supporting people who have experienced domestic abuse, trauma, anxiety, and grief. I also work with neurodivergent clients through 1:1 therapy and therapeutic programmes tailored to individual needs.
These experiences shape how I work, with an emphasis on gentleness, non-judgement, and moving at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for you.
