About me
There is nothing more powerful than feeling truly heard and understood by another person, without judgement or criticism. When that happens, it can enable us to explore how we think and feel in a much deeper, more authentic way. Then we can begin to learn, grow and flourish.
I am an experienced BACP accredited, Humanistic and Integrative counsellor, offering you a warm, safe, confidential space to share whatever issues you are facing. I offer support with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, autism, ADHD, relationships, family issues, bereavement, loss, transitions and more - please do ask.
My experience as a counsellor includes working with adults of all ages. I have particular experience working with 18-25yr olds, undergraduates and PhD students. I welcome diversity and have experience working with different cultural, racial, ethnic, religious, gender, relationship and sexual identities, and individuals who are neurodivergent. I am mindful of how different identities can intersect and add to the experience of minority stress.
How I work
I believe that each of us has a knowledge, deep inside, of who we are, what is important to us and what gives our life meaning. Throughout life, we may have struggled to connect with that inner knowing or have simply lost touch with it. When that happens, it can affect how we experience ourselves, our relationships with other people and with the world more generally. Through the therapeutic relationship, I believe it is possible to reconnect with that inner knowing, to rebuild trust in oneself and others (where it has been lost) and live life more fully.
My approach is holistic which means that every part of you and your experience (physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual) is welcomed and valued. I draw on multiple theories to support our work, including person-centred (you are the expert, and I am alongside you), psychodynamic (looking at patterns in how we feel, think, behave and relate to others) and existential (making meaning of life and death). I also use some ideas from DBT (dialectical behaviour therapy), especially when emotions are intense, and we are working to support emotional regulation.
I offer both shorter and longer-term/open-ended therapy, depending on what would best support our work together. Shorter-term work would involve a minimum of 6 sessions and require us to focus on a specific issues. The length of time we work together would be discussed in the initial session.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
