About me

I am an accredited integrative counsellor and therapeutic clinical supervisor with extensive experience supporting children, young people and adults experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties. I have 19 years’ experience working within safeguarding and 8 years of counselling practice, including specialist work with trauma, sexual abuse, bereavement, anxiety, anger, self-harm, low self-esteem and other complex emotional needs.

My approach is person-centred, integrative and trauma-informed, recognising that every individual is different and that therapy should be tailored to their individual needs, experiences and goals. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, person-centred therapy and therapeutic play, where appropriate.

I aim to provide a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where clients can explore difficult experiences at their own pace. I believe that developing a trusting therapeutic relationship is central to effective counselling and I work collaboratively with clients to help them develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience and confidence.

I offer online, telephone and face-to-face counselling, working with children, young people and adults. I also provide clinical supervision for counsellors, supporting both trainee and qualified therapists with their counselling work, professional development, ethical practice and wellbeing.

My extensive safeguarding background means that I am experienced in working with complex situations and understand the importance of maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality and appropriate safeguarding procedures.

Professional experience

My professional experience includes counselling and therapeutic work with children, young people and adults, as well as significant experience within safeguarding and complex support services.

I currently provide therapeutic clinical supervision, supporting trainee and qualified counsellors with casework, clinical decision-making, ethical practice, safeguarding, professional development and practitioner wellbeing.

I have extensive specialist experience working with children and young people aged 4–18 in pre-trial therapy who have experienced sexual abuse, providing trauma-informed one-to-one counselling and working alongside children's social care, health, education and the police where appropriate.

I have also worked extensively in private practice, providing integrative and therapeutic play counselling to children, young people and adults experiencing a wide range of emotional difficulties.

I have 14 yeas experience in supporting people affected by substance misuse, often alongside complex emotional and social needs. This has given me an understanding of the challenges people can face around dependency, change, relationships and emotional wellbeing. Through this work, I have developed a compassionate, non-judgemental approach and an appreciation of the importance of listening, building trust and creating a safe space where people feel heard and supported. My wider experience of safeguarding and supporting people through difficult circumstances has further strengthened my ability to work sensitively with individuals who may be experiencing significant challenges.
