About me

I am a warm, friendly and approachable Integrative Therapist. I am down to earth and provide practical and realistic ways to help support you on your counselling journey.

My philosophy…

Not only do I have personal experience being a counselling client, but 4 years of training and qualifications to underpin my passion and understanding of what counselling clients need.

Approaching each session with empathy and compassion, I recognise the importance of a good therapeutic relationship. Built on trust, good rapport and confidentiality.

I believe each person has it within themselves to change and grow in a healthy and positive way.

However life gets in the way and we can feel stuck, lost or disconnected from who we are.
It can feel scary, even overwhelming to talk to someone about our feelings. Especially friends and family. That is why I believe Counselling is invaluable.

How can I help you?

I offer a warm, confidential and safe space with no judgement where we can together explore whatever challenges or concerns you are experiencing.

You will not face this alone I will be there every step of the way to support you.

I will help you gain new perspectives and develop skills that will assist you when working through difficult times in your life.
Building resilience and confidence in your decision making. Plus allowing you to achieve a sense of personal growth and development.

My Practice

Is based in a newly refurbished designated therapy centre in the heart of Heaton Moor “Moor Therapy”. The rooms are cosy and confidential, local to bus and train routes with parking available.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and I offer a free 20 minute no obligation phone call consultation.
Sessions are client led, so it is up to you what you bring to each session, it is your space and time to use how you see fit.

I am an Integrative Therapist which means I’m trained in 3 modalities.

*Person Centred Therapy
*Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
* Transactional Analysis Therapy
This allows me to tailor my approach to best suit your needs in our sessions.
Where appropriate I may share parts of theory with you. To help you understand yourself, your situation, or develop your self awareness.
This is key in counselling as we can’t change what we don’t know.
Counselling can feel challenging and scary at times but persevering through with my help and support I believe is so worthwhile.

Areas of interest I work with

ADHD & ASD .. I have lived experience of supporting people with ADHD and ASD. This has helped me relate to clients who are neurodiverse to support their counselling needs.

I am fully insured by Holistic Insurance and I am also a registered member of the MBACP ‘British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy’ I am committed to following an ethical and professional way of working.

My other Interests

My other passion is hairdressing, where I have had over 30 years of experience building relationships with my clients, this has been invaluable to my counselling career as I recognise how important it is to put people at ease, listen to their needs and help them feel welcome regardless of their age, race, ethnicity or gender.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
