About me
You might be coming to counselling because something doesn’t feel quite right. Maybe you’re feeling stuck, caught in the same patterns that keep showing up in your relationships. Perhaps you’re tired of always being the strong one, worn down by an inner voice that never seems to let up, or quietly wondering, when is it my turn?
You may be carrying grief, anxiety, depression, or the impact of trauma. You might be struggling with self-worth or shame, feeling hurt or confused by relationships past or present, or questioning where you truly belong. For some people, there’s a sense of disconnection from who they really are, or a curiosity about how early experiences continue to shape life today.
Starting therapy can feel daunting. Many people aren’t sure what to expect, or whether their struggles are “big enough” to bring. I often hear things like, “You’ve probably heard much worse,” or “I’m such a mess, no one can help me.” The truth is, there’s no minimum or maximum amount of suffering required to start therapy. We’re all a bit messy in our own unique ways, and being curious about your own story is always a meaningful place to begin.
I’m Jen, an Integrative Therapist based in Wellington, Telford, offering both in-person and online sessions. I work with people who feel anxious, low, stuck, or disconnected, often with a sense that something isn’t quite right, even if they can’t yet put it into words.
You don’t need to have everything worked out or know exactly what to say when we begin. We’ll go at your pace and figure things out together. My role is to really listen and help you gently untangle what’s been going on underneath, so you can begin to make sense of your feelings, your patterns, and what you actually need.
Therapy isn’t about fixing you, but understanding your story, giving space to the parts of you that have been pushed aside, and learning to meet yourself with more kindness so that healing and growth can happen.
Everyone’s needs are different. Some people prefer focused, short-term work, while others value the depth that comes with longer-term therapy. We can decide together what feels most supportive for you.
If any of this resonates, you’re very welcome to get in touch for a brief, informal chat to see whether working together might feel like a good fit, or to explore my website to learn more about how I work.
Training, qualifications & experience
My approach: I am an integrative relational-developmental therapist and my training brings together different approaches, including relational, psychodynamic, developmental, and attachment-based models.
In practice, this actually means that while two people might go through a similar experience, how they make sense of it will always be unique. Therefore, I hold theoretical models lightly and focus on what feels most helpful for you. I pay close attention to how we work together, as the relationship between us is an important part of the process. Our conversations can be a space to explore your experiences, notice patterns in your relationships, and find new ways of relating to yourself and others.
My experience: Before training as a therapist, I volunteered as a listening volunteer with Samaritans, speaking with people experiencing deep distress and suicidal thoughts. That experience taught me how transformative it can be simply to be heard with compassion and without judgment, something I carry into my work today.
I’ve worked in busy counselling practices (both in-person and online), supporting adults from a wide range of backgrounds. Many of the people I've worked have difficult childhood experiences or times when they’ve felt unseen, unsupported, or let down by others. I also work with people who struggle with feeling different, including those who are neurodivergent, or who find relationships hard to navigate, feel anxious in social situations, question their sense of identity or belonging, or have a complicated relationship with their body or self-image.
My qualifications: I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy from The Sherwood Institute. I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychology and a Certificate in Counselling Skills, and have completed further training in trauma-informed practice, inner child work, and developmental theory. I am also currently undertaking advanced clinical training to complete a Masters in Integrative Psychotherapy.
I am an Accredited Registrant Member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc.), a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP) and a trainee member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), adhering to their ethical framework.
My work is supported by regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure I offer a safe, reflective, and effective practice.
