About me
Hello, I’m Jeff, a qualified person-centred counselling therapist based in Penryn, and serving the Falmouth area of Cornwall.
Life can feel difficult and overwhelming at times, and it's completely normal to need support. Having a compassionate, neutral presence to talk to, outside your circle of family and friends - who truly listens and understands, can be comforting, healing and empowering. Counselling has the potential to be life changing.
I’m qualified in the ‘Person-Centred’ psychotherapy modality, and see myself as a warm and genuine counsellor who recognises and values the uniqueness of every person I work with. I’m committed to creating a space where you feel truly seen, heard - perhaps for the first time - and free from judgment. Building a meaningful connection with you is at the heart of my approach, and I understand that trust is often built over many sessions. I also believe that, when appropriate, a touch of humour can add a sense of comfort and ease to our work together.
I’m not a passive presence in the room - but rather an engaged and supportive one, and believe in encouraging you to direct your own process in a way that feels right for you. I won’t tell you how to feel, but I’ll gently help you notice and explore your thoughts and emotions as they naturally emerge. There’s no need to censor yourself here.
It’s not always easy to reach out for support, and I want to honour your courage as you consider taking that first step. Here, you will find a space awaits you filled with kindness, reassurance and understanding - one where you are met without judgment - because I believe implicitly that the relationship between us is key to effective therapy.
Drawing from my own life experiences and professional training as a counsellor, I provide a safe and compassionate space where you can take a moment to pause, reflect, and explore your thoughts and feelings, especially when they feel confusing or difficult to express. Whether you’re dealing with stress at work, grief, relationship struggles, or the lingering effects of past trauma or abuse, I’m here for you.
If you're new to therapy or unsure if it’s the right step for you, please know that it's okay to take your time and move at your own pace. Whatever has led you here, I’m here to meet you exactly where you are.
In this regard, sometimes life can feel like we're driving on a journey without a clear map, and it can be difficult to navigate the twists and turns. But what if, just maybe, we could figure it out together?
I often liken the process of life - and therapy - as a bit like rally driving: Setting out on our younger journey with a road map drawn by others, initially following their route as best we can. There are many hills to climb and unexpected obstacles to navigate along our route – but here’s the thing: this is your car, your journey and you’re the one at the wheel. In the therapy room I’m here as your co-driver - by your side – offering my support. You’ll be taking us to checkpoints in your life that matter the most – and while you inevitably won’t be showing me the scenic route, using your innate sense of self-curiosity we can venture off the beaten track uncovering the routes that lead to deeper self-understanding, healing, and growth.
Your story is yours to share in your own unique way, and your next chapter is yours to write. Whether you're just starting to find your voice, grappling with internal conflicts, or taking steps toward creating lasting, meaningful change in your life, for me, the magic of therapy lies in helping my clients tap into those powerful qualities of courage and curiosity. As a counselling therapist, there’s no greater reward than witnessing my client gradually summoning these inner resources and carrying that newfound strength into their wider world.
This is your space - dedicated to your unique journey.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Level 5 – Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and Therapy - University of Plymouth
Registered Member - British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP)
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Free Consultation - 20 minutes
If you’re unsure whether therapy is the right step for you - or if I’m the right counsellor to support you, I invite you to reach out for a free, no-obligation 20-minute phone consultation which allows you to meet me, ask any questions you may have, and to learn how I work as a Person-Centred counsellor. If, after our conversation, you still feel uncertain, that's perfectly fine - there's no pressure to continue onwards into a therapeutic process with me. You will still have taken a meaningful first step in putting your well-being first.

Session length - 60 minutes
£35 per 60-minute session*
*Concessionary fee available for students & trainee counsellors.
(I do offer longer therapy sessions of 90 minutes on request - @ £55).
n.b. there is no minimum number of sessions in a therapeutic process. Part of my encouragement of you directing your own process is the autonomy of you knowing what’s right for you in this regard.
