About me

Hi, I am Jean, Thank you for viewing my page. As a proficient Gestalt therapist,  I am based across the Winchester, Eastleigh and Portsmouth area. I will offer a warm, safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore your experiences and emotions. I believe that in order to heal, we need connection and through the use of a strong collaborative relationship with me, a sense of your belonging and purpose will evolve.

On the journey of life, there are many different reasons why the need to seek counselling arises and the first step is to find a professional with whom you feel comfortable working with. For me, empathy and compassion are at the centre of my practice. To seek counselling with the want to move forward is such a brave decision and I am passionate in supporting individuals in making positive change for themselves.

My background includes extensive experience as counsellor working within the charity sector. As a specialist trauma therapist, I supported survivors or sexual abuse and domestic violence both historic and current. My experience in counselling clients suffering bereavement and loss recently led me to a role within a local bereavement charity. In addition, I have my own established private practice and support clients experiencing childhood sexual abuse, sexual abuse and domestic abuse/sexual violence, anxiety and depression, panic attacks, PTSD, lack of self-confidence and low esteem, relationship issues, bereavement and loss, work/life balance, peri/post menopause support.

I am trauma informed therapist and use a variety of therapeutic approaches to provide you with support that is unique and focused for your needs. Through listening to you, I aim to empower you to deepen your self-awareness and gain strategies to deal with whatever you are facing in life. I am open to working creatively with you and can provide resources to explore things in a new way to provide fresh insight to how you may be thinking or feeling.

I offer both short-term support to address specific areas or longer-term therapy to deeper explore your experience. I can offer online, face to face and telephone sessions which begin with a free 20-minute telephone consultation. In this session, we can discuss, where you are at currently and also what you are looking to achieve in the process.

My passion as your personal therapist is to focus on supporting you in a tailored and personalised way, which helps you rediscover and reconnect with who you are; helping you to break free of what holds you back. I currently work online with a variety of nationalities across the world including, Europe and Asia, giving me a wealth of experience and understanding of different cultures. I welcome clients of Trans Gender and the LGTBQ communities and also work with neurodivergent clients.

I completed my training with the University of Portsmouth.

As a fully qualified counsellor and member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am committed to my professional development and regularly attend workshops and conferences to deepen and broaden my knowledge. This enhances the way in which I work, enabling me to have more of an understanding of your life situations as we work together for you to reach a more fulfilled life experience.

I also have professional training in safeguarding adults and children, supporting vulnerable adults, trauma informed practice and experience in collaborating with multiagency teams.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
