About me
Hello, welcome and thank you for taking the time to read a little about what I can offer you. I’m Janine - a qualified integrative therapist ready to work alongside you. Together we can explore whatever challenges are causing you to feel stressed/anxious; stuck in repeated patterns of relating or creating barriers to you feeling fulfilled, satisfied and happy with how you’re experiencing life.
I am keen to explore whatever difficulties or challenges have led you to seek therapy or counselling, my background is originally in education, so I am confident and comfortable working therapeutically with young people aged 8 upwards, alongside my adult clients. My main area of expertise and interest is in supporting neurodivergence (autism/ADHD particularly) SEND and related challenges (children/young people, adults and parents/carers of neurodivergent young people and those with SEND). Whether you self-identify, are considering seeking a diagnosis, or are formally diagnosed as neurodivergent - I can support with navigating executive function challenges; RSD (rejection sensitive dysphoria) sense of self/identity, social/personal relationship difficulties and anything else that this wonderful spectrum may be bringing up for you. Other areas I have worked with clients on recently include: loss/bereavement; anxiety and/or depression; identity issues including sense of self and familial/relationship issues; attachment styles and stress (including work-related stress). My background in education enables me to fully understand the pressures of teaching and associated challenges – so I also work well with education professionals experiencing career-related pressures or stresses.
Whilst I take my work seriously, my style is warm, compassionate and peppered with humour. Being able to laugh at myself, life (and all the challenges it throws at us) is a big part of who I am and something that inadvertently shows up in the therapy room. My approach is relational; I believe the therapeutic relationship we create and build provides the crucial foundation for being able to ‘do the work’.
As an integrative therapist, I work with a range of therapeutic modalities and styles – tailored to suit your individual needs and preferences. I am not here to tell you what to do; my approach is collaborative, non-judgemental and gently challenging. I will work alongside you to explore whatever you are finding difficult or challenging; encourage reflection, discussion and pattern-spotting and, together, work towards a resolution in a safe, empathetic space.

Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a MSc in Integrative Counselling and a Level 7 certificate in working with ADHD and Co-morbid Conditions. Prior to training as a counsellor, I worked as a teacher for over 15 years (first in primary, then as a specialist SEND practitioner with ages 4 -18). I continue to work as SEND specialist, alongside my counselling practice, supporting young people who are unable to access mainstream education provision.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
