About me
I am a Psychodynamically trained Counsellor. I have worked successfully with a wide range of difficulties including depression, anxiety and related symptoms such as OCD, eating disorders, phobias and fearfulness. I have extensive experience working with trauma caused during childhood including childhood sexual abuse, Boarding School syndrome, parental mental health problems, parental drug/alcohol dependency, loss of parents or siblings, parental separation, adoption and care experience.
I am trained to help you connect your current difficulties in life to experiences in the past including in childhood and the family. I aim to help you make sense of how things are now such as in relationships or at work, to overcome trauma, reduce symptoms, develop yourself and enhance your approach to life.
If you are starting therapy for the first time or taking your next step on an existing therapeutic journey please get in touch and I will aim to meet your needs.
I am also a qualified supervisor. If you are a counsellor looking for supervision please contact me to discuss this further. (Please see my supervisor listing).
I offer an initial free 30-minute assessment session. During this I will ask you for some background information about yourself, any current difficulties and your family history. This is also a chance for you to meet me online initially and ask any questions about how things work and to see if you wish to proceed.
I can offer appointments in person in Brighton or online via Zoom. I work Monday to Friday and can accommodate some early evenings.. I may have Saturday morning availability. Appointments are fixed weekly sessions unless you are a shift worker in which case I can support flexible dates.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
