About me
I offer counselling in person locally and further afield (if online) in a quiet, confidential and safe space. My priority is helping you as my client with whatever issues you may bring to sessions and do this in an empathic, friendly and non-judgemental manner in order to build a therapeutic, working relationship between us.
There may be issues you have difficulty facing (past and present), challenging life changes or situations or perhaps a personal crisis that may feel difficult to deal with, move past or accept. If you choose to work with me, the focus will be on you and what you want to bring to counselling. As a person-centred counsellor, I don't see myself as an expert in what is happening for you and how this affects your world. Rather, I would like to work alongside you to aid understanding and exploration of issues you bring and help promote personal growth and movement for you as the client.

I have experience of working with a diverse range of issues that clients have brought to counselling. These include : loss and bereavement, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, health issues and neurodiversity.
I also have many years experience of working in health care environments that have helped me to develop a caring, empathic approach and an understanding of many of the challenges we may face as part of life.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and this means I meet standards relating to my training, continuing professional development and current practice via the BACP Ethical Framework.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I offer an initial consultation with new clients prior to therapeutic work commencing and this is usually via a phone call, but can be online if preferred. We can then arrange a session to see if we feel comfortable about working together and explore what this might entail.
Please don't hesitate to contact me via phone or email for an initial chat or to book an initial consultation. If I am not immediately available I will get back to you as soon as I can. Feel free to leave a phone message if you feel comfortable doing so.
