About me
Hello, I am a person-centred counsellor, which means I take my cues from you. This kind of therapy is client led. I will listen to you and respond with empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence, which is a special kind of 'tuning in'.
I have been in private practice for 15 years, after qualifying in 2010 with a Diploma in Person Centred Counselling. I have now re-located to Wales, where I was born. I am still taking clients for face to face, telephone, WhatsApp and Zoom video counselling
My focus has been what you might call 'General Practice', in terms of who comes through my door, but I have always had a very keen interest in loss, and attachment which I feel, in one way or another underlie many of the causes of depression, distress, and incongruence. I am also experienced in working with clients presenting with PTSD.
I have two adopted children and have trained and worked with Barnado's LINK service for the last seven years, gaining further qualifications and experience in these areas. I am now an Approved Therapist for Barnados LINK adoption therapy service.
During the last ten years I have worked with clients on a range of issues including bereavement, divorce, family dynamics and break down, adoption, and other attachment based issues. I have worked with couples, and adolescents as well as adults.
I am an approved therapist for Anxiety UK and have treated many forms of anxiety, including social anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, OCD, anorexia and other eating disorders. I also worked for Health Assured, an Employee Assistance Provider, as a counsellor and Well-Being Team member. While working for Health Assured, I treated many clients from the NHS, Kent police, and South Eastern Rail for trauma associated with their jobs.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
As I have adopted children myself, I have always been interested in the dynamics of family and attachment that separation of any kind can make problematic. I have researched and trained in these areas and feel I can offer a very thorough, personal and compassionate counselling experience to anyone going through any aspect of this difficult issue.
