Psychotherapeutic Counsellor MBACP for women

About me

I am passionate about women and women's issues. I offer a free chat where we can explore what you're looking for, and I'm always happy to help you find the right fit - even if it's not me.

I’m Jamie, a Psychotherapeutic counsellor, I help people make sense of what’s happening inside them, especially when the old ways of coping stop working.

I offer a steady, down to earth space where you don’t have to pretend you’re fine.

Clients often come to me when they’re navigating a wide range of emotional and life challenges, from;

  • Anxiety/Generalized Anxiety (GAD)
  • Mental load and overwhelm
  • Confidence Issues in women
  • Navigating family dynamics
  • Stress, Burnout & mental load
  • Low mood
  • Grief & bereavement
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Fertility Challenges in women
  • Depression
  • Caring Responsibilities
  • Menopause & Perimenopause

Many clients come to me when they feel overwhelmed or disconnected, or when something in their life no longer feels manageable. We work at your pace, with curiosity and compassion, finding language for what has felt unsayable.

How I Work

I’m an integrative therapist, which means I draw from several approaches (listed in my profile), humanistic, relational and I work creatively. But in simple terms: "I meet you where you are and we figure this out together".

What to Expect

  • Our sessions are calm, spacious, and attuned.
  • The rooms are modern, light, comfortable and highly confidential
  • You can bring the messy, the uncertain, the painful, the hopeful and all of it is welcome, there is no expectation.

Over time, clients often describe feeling clearer, steadier, and more able to confidently make choices that honour their needs.

See a testimonial;

“I am incredibly grateful for the support I received from Jamie during a very difficult time in my life. She helped guide me through my grief journey with compassion, patience, and genuine understanding. Her professional approach, combined with warmth and care, made me feel safe and supported throughout the process.

She offered a range of practical strategies that helped me cope day to day, and also helped me make important connections between my grief and other areas of trauma in my life. I felt truly heard and understood. I highly recommend Jamie to anyone seeking thoughtful, professional counselling support and I am eternally grateful for her guidance.”

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at the Northern Guild in Jesmond, Newcastle, where I completed my Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I have experience working within a GP surgery and supporting clients through several charities across the North East of England. Before qualifying as a therapist, I spent many years in leadership and coaching roles, which continue to influence the grounded, relational way I work today.

I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), DBS checked, ICO registered, and fully insured.

I have additional CPD training in working with Couples.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

Outside of therapy, I’m 45, a mum, a partner, and someone who loves being creative. I’m happiest when I’m making something, playing with ideas, or spending time outdoors. I love art, herbalism, crafting, and anything that lets me slow down and reconnect. Those parts of my life help keep me grounded and definitely influence my work in gentle ways.
