About me

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and DBT Psychotherapist with over 22 years of experience working therapeutically with adults and young people across private practice, the NHS, academia, social services, private organisations, and the charity sector. My approach to therapy is warm, genuine, and relatable, while also grounded and practical. I place great importance on the therapeutic relationship, creating a space where clients feel safe to go deep and openly explore difficult areas of their lives. This work is supported by my extensive experience in assessment, formulation, and intervention.

At the heart of my work is a deep curiosity about people and a commitment to understanding what has happened to them. I am guided by the belief that with the right values, skills, and knowledge, meaningful change is possible. I aim to take in the whole of a person’s life, helping them understand where they are now, where they want to go, and who they want to be. My long-standing work with marginalised and oppressed communities has shaped a practice grounded in cultural humility and an ongoing awareness of how power, position, privilege, and intersectionality shape our inner worlds and ways of being. In therapy, the whole person is welcomed, and together we work to cultivate more of the life they want to live.

I have worked extensively across the lifespan with a wide range of experiences of psychological distress. I specialise in working with LGBTQI+ people, those who identify as GSRD, and individuals with lived experience of neurodivergence. I also have significant expertise in working with trauma, depression, anxiety, panic, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, family strain, anger, grief and bereavement, body dysmorphia, sexual difficulties, obsessive–compulsive experiences, and low self-esteem. More broadly, I am able to work with most forms of human psychological distress in a held, brave, and fiercely compassionate space.

In private practice, I work with individuals, couples, and groups. My work draws on a range of therapeutic models, including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Developmental Trauma Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Psychodynamic Interpersonal Therapy (PIT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Group Analysis.

I trained at the Faculty of Medicine and Health at Bangor University, UK, where I completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I am also a certified DBT psychotherapist and supervisor. Alongside my clinical work, I am a published researcher with a primary focus on Queer and GSRD experiences. I am an HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist and a published poet.
