About me
At some stage in our lives, we may feel low, anxious or confused. We might be unhappy in our relationships. We could be facing a crisis, such as a serious illness or family breakdown. We may have experienced a loss in our life in recent times or a while ago and be finding ourselves unable to move on. We could simply be stuck in a rut and can’t see a way forward. I can help you understand more about yourself and the emotions you are experiencing.
I have over twelve years' experience as a BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. I adhere to the BACP's Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
I am also a registered Aviva Practitioner.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor having completed an NHS Diploma in Integrative Counselling accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and a level 6 Diploma in Supervision. I have been running a successful private practice for over twelve years.
My experience covers a wide range of issues and I work with adults and couples.
I have completed extensive further training, more details of which can be found on my website.
My training enables me to work integratively (which means I use more than one theoretical perspective) my approach centres on the principle that you are the expert on your life. With support and whilst working together in a safe, secure and empathic environment it is possible for you to make sense of any overwhelming emotions you are experiencing and make choices about your life based on what you discover.
Many clients find that the inward changes they experience are enough to enable them to deal with any challenges they may face.
I work on both a long and short-term basis depending on the needs of the client at that time.
I hold a current Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS)
I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ZA329450)
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
