About me

Perhaps something in your life doesn't feel right.

You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or low. Perhaps your mind rarely switches off, you're struggling with a relationship, coping with grief or loss, dealing with work or family pressures, or facing a change you weren't expecting.

You might find yourself worrying about the future, going over things from the past, or wondering why the same feelings or patterns keep returning. Or perhaps there isn't one particular problem. You simply feel stuck, disconnected from yourself, or know that something needs to change.

You don't need to have it all worked out before you come to counselling. We can start with where you are.

I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can slow things down and talk openly about what is happening for you.

My approach is primarily person-centred. I believe you are the expert in your own life, even at times when you may feel unsure or lost. I won't tell you what you should do. Instead, I'll work alongside you, helping you explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.

You don't need to arrive with the right words or a clear idea of what you want from counselling. There is no pressure to talk about anything before you feel ready, and we'll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I also draw on psychodynamic thinking where helpful. Exploring how earlier experiences and relationships may influence how you feel, respond, or relate to others today can help recurring patterns begin to make sense.

Greater self-understanding can help you recognise what you would like to change and what you might be ready to accept about yourself. For me, counselling isn't about becoming a different person. It's about understanding yourself, recognising what you need and considering how you want to move forward.

I have experience supporting adults with anxiety, stress and panic, low mood and depression, grief and loss, trauma and difficult past experiences, relationship and family difficulties, loneliness, self-esteem, work-related pressures, overwhelm and significant life changes.

Sometimes there isn't a name for what you're experiencing. If something is troubling you, that's enough reason to talk.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a Diploma in Transformational Coaching. I have experience counselling and coaching adults from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances.

My professional development includes training in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Mental Health First Aid, Level 3 Safeguarding, Complex Attachment, Child Protection and supporting people affected by attachment difficulties.

Alongside my counselling experience, I bring more than 20 years' professional experience in education, coaching, leadership, training and wellbeing. Throughout my career, supporting people through periods of challenge, change and uncertainty has been central to my work.

My background in education also involved working with staff and parents, supporting children and young people with SEND, including autism. This has given me an understanding of some of the pressures families can experience when supporting a child with additional needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Through my counselling work with carers, I have particular experience supporting people with caring responsibilities.

Caring for someone you love can bring many different emotions and pressures. Your attention may naturally become focused on the needs of the person you care for, sometimes leaving very little space to think about how you are feeling or what you need.

Counselling can provide a space where the focus is on you and your experience.

My wider professional background also means I understand something of the pressures that can come with demanding careers, responsibility, supporting others and balancing different areas of life.

I offer counselling to adults face-to-face in West Hampstead and online across the UK.

Finding the right counsellor matters, so I offer a free 15-minute introductory telephone conversation. This gives you an opportunity to tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels right for you.

There is no obligation to book afterwards.
