About me
I have worked as an Integrative Young Person & Adult Psychotherapist & Counsellor/Clinical Supervisor/Consultant, in practice (since 2006) with young people, adults, families, couples and professionals. During my long career I have set up counselling & supervision services in two middle schools and worked with students, staff and parents/families. I have taught in the field of Counselling and Psychotherapy (2008-2019) as Lecturer/Course Director of the Access to HE Diploma in Counselling at the West Suffolk College in Bury St. Edmunds and worked as the Head of Counselling & Supervision of the Women’s Aid Centre in Bury St. Edmunds (2008-2018), working with women, children, staff and trainee counsellors in placement.
Today, I work solely in private practice, I offer psychotherapy & counselling to adults and young people (I am qualified as a Trauma Informed Schools & Communities Practitioner), and psychotherapy/counselling and clinical supervision/consultancy to both trainee and qualified counsellors, professionals and staff of organisations locally. I have an enhanced DBS and Child safeguarding certificate and am CYPS registered with the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society. I am also a registered BWRT advanced practitioner (General Psychopathology & Psychology of Identity and Behaviour). I enjoy studying and research in my professional field and strive to keep my Continuing Professional Development record current and attend workshops regularly as well as undertaking qualifications that aid and are relevant to my work. I am a senior accredited member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society and the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. Both membership bodies are accredited by the governments voluntary Professional Standards Authority register (PSA). This guarantees that I have met a high level of training and experience.
How I work and what to expect at the beginning;
I use an integrative approach to help people who are having difficulties in their life and wish to seek an independent helper to listen and provide a non-judgmental environment in which to explore these difficulties. The therapeutic relationship is an important part of the therapy and I strive to provide a safe, empathetic, trusting environment.
When we first meet I will explain how I work and gain an understanding of the issues you are bringing to therapy so that we may decide if I am the right person for you and plan a way forwards. I have trained in many theoretical approaches which allows me to use the best approach(es) dependent on your needs and what is most appropriate for you. I can provide online/telephone counselling as well as short and long term face to face counselling.
A Space to Talk — One-Off 90 Minute Session
Sometimes we don’t feel ready to begin regular counselling, but we need time and space to talk through something that feels difficult, overwhelming, or unexpected.
I offer one-off 90-minute counselling sessions, designed to give you the opportunity to explore a specific issue, decision, life event, relationship difficulty, or anything that is weighing heavily on your mind.
This session offers a confidential and supportive space where you can feel heard, reflect on what you are experiencing, and begin to make sense of what you might need going forward.
There is no expectation or commitment to continue with therapy afterwards, although further sessions can be discussed if you feel they would be helpful. A one-off session can offer support, reflection and a place to talk at a time when you need it most. I work from my practice in Hessett, near Bury St.Edmunds.
How can counselling help?
'Talking therapies can help with many difficult life problems - from coping with traumatic experiences and events, to dealing with depression and anxiety or managing harmful emotions and behaviours'. (BACP, 2019)

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
