About me

I can offer sessions for your relationship wellbeing and specialise in connection and communication.

I'm an accredited clinical counsellor and I work in private practice with a focus on relationships, relational trauma and connection.

Our sessions can help with any struggles, including the ones we have with ourselves and with others. These might involve; trauma, the pain of separation, conflict, loss, attachment, trust battles and injury, abuse, amongst many layers.

All our existence is relational. We get our sense of self through our relationships and how we interact with others and sometimes things go wrong.

My expertise offers support for communication and relational difficulties, along with other individual needs including; conflict, working through trauma, patterns and cycles of shame, repairing trust and finding a way out of dilemma.

Everyone is welcome. In all forms of relationship(s).

Our work together can support you to build your own coping mechanisms and feelings of self-esteem. Many clients benefit from the work available for communication and connection.

Initial Assessments

You might come to the sessions experiencing a wide range of conflicting emotions.

An initial ongoing assessment session offers a chance to unravel these feelings and be sure what you’re looking for fits with my competencies and expertise.

In a first session, we simply talk through what has been happening recently. We can consider what has come before, in the past, what is happening now and/or how you’d like things to look in the future.

Our focus will be on how you’d like things to change.

We can contract our work with a clear vision of what will be most helpful to you, talk through what I can offer and what I will need from you in return.

Please note that following assessment, in some instances it may be necessary to suggest a referral to alternative counselling support, as best practise.

Ongoing Relationship Sessions

To get the most from the work you do, I recommend regular sessions, at the same time each week, where possible. The time between sessions is as important, as the sessions themselves.

All the support I offer links with our relational issues. Relationships naturally impacts all parts of our lives. We can talk about anything, any subject, any worry.

This might involve the relationships you have with yourself, with colleagues, with family members, friends or our most intimate relationships.

I'll offer a route towards positive change. Building a safe therapeutic relationship, to help turn towards changing and processing what troubles you most.

The work taps into your own capabilities, your own inner resources, so sets you up towards sustaining and continuing the change going forward.

The sessions include an integrative form of counselling. This combines solution focused techniques with a person-centred approach and trauma therapy. This means our sessions will allow you to bring what you want, within the BACP ethical framework guidance.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
