About me

Why counselling?

Life is not always predictable and things happen out of our control especially during these challenging and uncertain times which can trigger low-moods, anxiety, confusion, overwhelm, even fear.

Sometimes it is difficult to come to term with a bereavement or  loss and struggle to move forward and adjust to change of circumstances;

You may be stuck in patterns of behaviour that lead to dissatisfaction and pain;

Your mind is full of unwanted memories interfering with you present life;

or perhaps  you are at a crossroad and undecided at the direction to take.

Whatever your current confusion or struggle together we can find ways to explore your feelings and find ways towards a healthier you .

What is counselling and is it for you now?

Counselling can be challenging and it takes courage but the gains can be Insightful,  transformative and freeing.

Together we explore what is causing you psychological, emotional relational or physical discomfort or dis-ease to identify and understand your deeper struggles and core issues.

The counselling process is a therapeutic conversation, getting to know who you truly are and what you want and what gets in the way of you identifying and meeting your needs, with me, the therapist alongside you.

The purpose of counselling is to build resilience and find better ways to navigate life's ups and downs with more confidence.

Counselling is about helping you find your inner strengths and resources to live your life more fully and in balance.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am BACP Registered (British Association Counselling and Psychotherapy), holding a BACP Accredited PG Diploma in Person Centred Counselling, and recently gained NHS /BACP accredited Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PcE CfD) .

For the past 19 years, I worked as an IAPT counsellor in NHS and in private practice. More recently, I also support Performing Art Students.

As an Integrative relational counsellor, I draw on modalities including Person-centred Emotion Focused Counselling for Depression, CBT skills, Bodywork and Mindfulness and Psycho-education such as new development of neuro-science.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
