About me

At some point most of us face suffering or a crisis so intense that life feels unmanageable. Speaking openly with someone outside your personal circle who listens attentively and non judgementally to your concerns can not only provide relief but also enable you to discover new perspectives, leading to both acceptance and change.

Therapy is not only for times of crisis: at other times therapy can offer a stimulating and challenging space for personal development, growth and exploration, to transformative effect.

My name is Imogen. I have over 10 years of experience working in mental health and physical well-being with individuals and groups. I conduct my private practice both in person (in NW6 & West London) and online.

You can talk about anything with me, but typically clients seek support with: childhood trauma and abuse, anxiety and depression, family issues, low self esteem and identity issues, bereavement (including pet loss).

I am an Integrative counsellor, which means I draw on a range of different psychotherapeutic approaches in response to you and what you bring, rather than imposing any set regime.

I offer a steady, compassionate presence and a safe space for you to explore your difficulties. I will walk alongside you to challenging places and help you find your voice, make sense of your feelings, and begin to heal.

I like to consider all aspects, mind, body, and spirit, as well as the cultural, generational and societal influences that shape us as multidimensional beings. Where appropriate, I incorporate meditation, body and breath work to support deeper awareness and physiological, psychological and emotional regulation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked in private practice and for various charities and organisations including the Terrence Higgins Trust and the Mildmay Hospital which support people living with HIV, and continue to do so. In addition to my training as a therapist, I have examined the different dimensions to my own being through several various Eastern and Western personal development practices. I have led workshops and retreats in the UK and abroad focusing on Yoga, self-awareness and authentic communication.

I have a diploma in Integrative Counselling from the Minster Centre - one of Europe’s leading training centres for counselling and psychotherapy, where I am currently completing my Master's research in Integrative Psychotherapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

If you are interested in working together then please send me a message.

I will respond to you and arrange a free 20 minute consultation. This is a chance for us to see if we might be a good fit for each other. We can discuss what brings you to therapy and any questions you might have.

If we proceed, we work together for 6 x 50 minute sessions followed by a review. At this point we can decide if we want to continue to work with each other in a more open ended way.
