About me

If you’re stuck in cycles you’ve tried to break — drinking more than you want to, slipping back into old habits, feeling constantly on edge, or carrying the impact of past trauma — you’re not failing. These patterns make sense, and they can change with the right support.

I’m a psychotherapist specialising in trauma and addiction, with 14 years’ experience helping adults regain stability, control, and self-trust. My work is practical, structured, and focused on real change — not open-ended therapy with no clear direction.

People often come to me when they’re exhausted from managing alone and know they need specialist support that actually moves things forward.

I commonly help clients who are struggling with:

  • Alcohol or substance use that feels hard to control.
  • Repeated relapse or fear of relapse
  • Trauma, PTSD, or unresolved childhood experiences
  • Anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or feeling constantly “on edge”
shame, self-criticism, and feeling stuck in the same patterns
  • Burnout, stress, and emotional shutdown
  • Mental Health issues/diagnosis
  • Grief/Loss, Isolation, Loneliness

Many clients are functioning well on the outside but feel chaotic, numb, or out of control underneath.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a BSc and MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy and have over 14 years’ experience supporting adults and young people in therapy. I specialise in trauma and addiction, helping clients break long-standing patterns, manage triggers, and build safer, sustainable coping strategies.

Before establishing my private practice, I worked in a variety of clinical settings, including inpatient, outpatient, hospital-based, university, and community services. I have also held senior and specialist roles, including group practice director and supporting survivors of sexual abuse.

My approach is trauma-informed, practical, and compassionate, creating a safe space where clients can regain control, develop resilience, and make lasting change.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
