About me

I am an HCPC-registered integrative Counselling Psychologist. I provide a confidential, ethical and transparent therapy service for adults and young adults.

I work with people who want to understand themselves better, process relational trauma, navigate difficult feelings, build healthier self-esteem, live more meaningful lives, and feel more themselves again.

Ultimately, I aim to provide you with the safety, space and understanding needed for you to explore your difficulties and to experience change (if change is what you are seeking). No matter who you are or what has happened to you, I work at your pace, with respect, no judgment, and with your goals at heart.

My service is currently fully remote.

Training, qualifications & experience

Qualifications

  • DPsych - Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, City St. George's, University of London - 2024
  • Certificate in Mindfulness Teaching - UK College of Mindfulness and Meditation - 2024
  • MSc - Applied Psychology, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen - 2021

I am an integrative Counselling Psychologist trained in the use of Psychodynamic, Relational, Humanistic-Existential, Cognitive-Behavioural, Mindfulness-based, and Compassion-oriented models of therapy. I am also an accredited Mindfulness teacher, though I will only draw on these skills if we feel that they will help.

Owing to my experiences within NHS and charity settings, my clients have often experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, or the compounding effects of just being so-called "different" from wider dominant systems and structures of power (e.g., LGBTQI+, race, disability, neurodiversity, socioeconomic status, education, military, religious/spiritual expression, personality).

More specifically, I tend to work with people who are experiencing identity issues of any nature. This means that I work with the difficulties associated with complex trauma, childhood abuse, neglect, shame, depression, dissociation, self-harm, gender and sexuality differences (including gender dysphoria, body dysmorphic disorder, and HIV/AIDS issues), ADHD, autism, disabilities and chronic health issues (both hidden and visible), career and relationship difficulties, and anxiety disorders.

You may or may not know what's troubling you - we will work together to explore this.

Member organisations

school Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

My aim is to offer a high quality, ethical and confidential service which is as accessible to as many people as possible. Having worked in the NHS, I know how challenging accessing therapy can be. I do offer a limited number of concessions where I can. Please do discuss this with me when you contact me if you feel you need help accessing my therapy.

We may also be able to make sessions fortnightly rather than weekly to make therapy more affordable. In future, I hope to be able to offer more concession slots. I regularly review this every 3 months.

I also accept referrals for anyone who has private insurance, currently:

  • AXA
  • Aviva
  • Vitality Health
  • WPA

Further information

The major benefit of therapy is that it is your space without any expectations to 'perform'. This can be both empowering and vulnerable. As such, I am patient, transparent, open and accountable in how I receive you and your identities. I emphasise the importance of a strong, safe therapeutic relationship in which to explore how you relate to yourself, others, and the world.
