About us

Welcome to Hope and Horizon Therapy Service based in Tameside and Poynton. We are a team of professional, experienced and trainee therapists providing easy access to therapy and counselling. We work with adults, young people, children and families.

We offer a wide range of therapies including Person Centred Counselling, Integrative Counselling, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Filial Play Therapy and work with families/couples. We also offer supervision to trainee and qualified therapists. Our sessions are tailored to suit your individual needs which help you to explore aspects of your life that you may want to be different.

EMDR is a powerful, evidenced-based and incredibly effective form of therapy for children and adults who have been through tricky, difficult, frightening or traumatic experiences. EMDR helps process painful memories to allow people recover and heal from trauma or big life events. EMDR is also used to treat anxiety, depression, eating disorders, pain, panic attacks, phobia, performance anxiety and self esteem.

We are a team of neuro-affirming therapists who are passionate about supporting people with neurodiversity. Our therapists have specialised in the field of supporting clients with ADHD, autism, dyspraxia, dyslexia, PDA. We offer a safe, sensory aware space to explore your difficulties.

Some of our therapists are dual trained as both Personal Trainers and therapists, and they can weave movement and emotional regulation into therapy for those who would find this beneficial.

One of our therapists is dual trained as a Dietitian and Therapist, offering CBT and EMDR for eating difficulties/disorders including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia, Binge eating, ARFID, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Body Dysmorphia, Body Image difficulties and Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified (OSFED).

We understand that taking the first step into therapy can be a difficult decision, we promise to provide a safe, non-judgemental and compassionate space to enable you to explore any difficulties you may be facing.

We specialise in a range of difficulties including Anxiety, Depression, Low self esteem, ADHD, ADD, Dyspraxia, Eating Difficulties, Neurodiversity, Trauma and PTSD.

Some of our therapists are Christian counsellors, who can support people who are seeking support from someone who acknowledges the role of faith in a person's life and offers to work with both psychological and spiritual wellbeing.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BABCP
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
