About me

Are you at a place in your life where current situations, past events or relationships are causing you distress or confusion? I'm Helen, a BACP registered counsellor, working with children & young people and adults and I can support you in working through difficulties.

How do I work?

I work as a relational integrative counsellor and am trained in a wide variety of therapeutic models (such as psychodynamic, person-centred, transactional analysis, CBT etc.) which I draw from, as appropriate, and integrate to meet your specific needs.  Working 'relationally' is based upon the value of human connection and recognises that healthy relationships are fundamental for people to be able to develop, thrive and for ongoing personal wellbeing. Therefore, the therapeutic relationship that we will develop together, where you'll feel it is safe for you to explore your feelings and heal from distress, will be at the heart of the counselling. I will be alongside you as you explore, on an authentic level, what is happening in your life and what you feel you would like to change.

What are my areas of expertise and special interest?

Over the years, I have developed expertise in working with individuals who are troubled by anxiety and depression, stress, low self-esteem or are experiencing a life crises such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or another type of loss or change.

As a school counsellor and former teacher & SENDCo, I have a specialism in working with children and young people and also alongside parents.

What will your counselling experience be like with me?

I will provide you with a safe and confidential space, to listen and really hear your story and experiences, without any judgement.

I am a warm, friendly person and a good listener; with strong empathic understanding and vast experience from my own personal life. I believe that kindness, compassion and understanding are the cornerstones of life and that everyone has the potential to heal and find happiness.

I work in a flexible way and tailor counselling so you get the most benefit from your therapeutic experience with me. I am committed to working together, as a team, to make sure that I fully understand your expectations of counselling and what it is you would like us to focus on because  you are the expert on you.

I put my heart into my therapeutic work and love supporting people and seeing the positive changes that counselling and psychotherapy can bring about.

I hope I will hear from you soon.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
