About me

Welcome to my Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice serving Brighouse, Rastrick, Halifax, Liversedge, Huddersfield, Mirfield and surrounding areas.

Hey,

Thanks for visiting my page, you being here tells me that things are tough right now, I know that reaching out for help can be a difficult step, but I believe it’s one worth taking. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, or struggling with low self-esteem, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to face these challenges by yourself. Choosing the right counsellor is crucial, and I want to make that process as comfortable and reassuring as possible for you.

As someone who’s naturally empathic and easy to talk to, my goal is to ease any apprehension you may feel about seeking support. I’m here to offer a safe, compassionate, and accepting space where your voice matters. I genuinely care about what’s important to you and am committed to helping you navigate your journey towards a more positive and fulfilling life.

Your Journey, Your Way

My approach is integrative, which means I tailor our sessions to suit your unique personality, preferences, and needs. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to therapy, and I’m here to ensure that you receive the support that’s most effective for you. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem, or you're navigating through trauma, loss, or any other challenges, I’m equipped with the knowledge and experience to guide you at your pace.

I offer flexibility in how we work together. Whether you prefer face-to-face sessions, online meetings, telephone conversations, or a combination of these, I’m here to adapt to what feels right for you. This is your journey, and I’m here to support you in a way that empowers you to take the lead.

A Compassionate and Experienced therapist.

With over 10 years of therapeutic experience and thousands of hours spent supporting individuals through a wide range of difficulties, I bring both expertise and empathy to our sessions. I’ve worked extensively with a diverse range people, train and teach counselling students, and hold specialist training in areas such as gambling addiction, relationships, trauma and much more. Additionally, I offer 1:1 clinical supervision overseeing trainee and qualified counsellors’ clinical practice.  I also facilitate group supervision for fellow counsellors, ensuring that my practice remains grounded in continuous learning and growth.

Let’s Take the Next Step Together

There’s no pressure to commit after an initial chat or session. I encourage you to take the time to find the right fit, whether that’s with me or another therapist. What matters most is that you receive the support that feels right for you.

If you’re ready to explore how we can work together, or if you simply want to learn more about what counselling with me might look like, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can also visit my website for more detailed information: www.counsellingdevotedtoyou.co.uk.

Taking the first step towards change can be daunting, but you don’t have to do it alone. I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Warm regards,
Helen Jordan

Training, qualifications & experience

I’m an accredited member of the BACP, which goes beyond standard registration. Registration confirms a counsellor has met the essential training requirements, while accreditation is an additional level of recognition that involves a deeper review of experience, professionalism, and ethical practice. It reflects my commitment to ongoing learning and supervision, offering you added reassurance that my work has been thoroughly assessed and meets a higher level of professional standard.

Over the past nine years, I have cultivated several thousand hours of clinical experience supporting individuals through a wide spectrum of emotional and psychological challenges. My work spans both short-term and long-term therapeutic engagement and includes areas such as anxiety, depression, trauma, betrayal, grief and loss, relational and familial tensions, and many other complex presentations. I practise as an IFS-informed counsellor and serve as a lead tutor at a local college, where I teach and mentor counselling students in both theory and practice. I also hold specialist training in gambling addiction and provide 1:1 clinical supervision for fellow practitioners, in addition to facilitating group supervision within professional counselling settings.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Questions you are asking yourself or issues which you may be experiencing

Do you find yourself repeating unhelpful old patterns of behaviour?

Do you repeatedly attract the same types of unhealthy relationships?

Do you feel stuck, low, anxious, afraid, alone, confused or stressed as a result of depression, relationships, abuse, self-harm, childhood trauma, loss or work?

Are these feelings impacting your social, emotional and psychological well-being and hindering you from living a fulfilling life?

Have traumatic experiences overwhelmingly impacted your life or conversely left you feeling numb?

Do you struggle to regulate, manage or locate your emotions?

Have your own or someone else’s gambling difficulties negatively affected your life?

Have you lost your sense of self or never really known who you are other than to be how others want you to be?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the above then I could work with you by providing a comfortable and confidential space for you to talk openly, free from judgment. I aim to view and understand your world through your eyes in order to really know you and through our relationship enable you to feel confident and safe enough to share (in your own time) your whole self. This could include giving a voice to parts of you that perhaps feel vulnerable, ashamed, ignored or angry.

If you would like to arrange an informal chat on the phone please drop me an email and I will get back to you within a few hours. I do not reply to missed calls or voicemails so as to maintain confidentiality but once we connect via email we can arrange a mutually convenient time to chat via telephone.

I look forward to hearing from you
