About me
Therapy is about understanding your reactions to what has happened to you, understanding what you need, and not about labelling you. You may experience grief, depression, anxiety, or trauma in response to circumstances you have found yourself in, and these are symptoms rather than diagnoses or disorders. I offer a supportive and non-judgemental space in which we can work together to understand these experiences and their individual meaning to you.
I believe our whole life and history walks into the therapy room with us, so whatever the present circumstances that have led to you seeking help, you may find yourself exploring a wide variety of other experiences that have gone before, to help you make sense of things. It is through being in this unique relationship that ultimately leads to the growth and change that you seek.
I have experience of working with a range of issues and life experiences including domestic abuse, childhood abuse, parenting experiences, loss, bereavement, family changes, divorce/separation, work issues, health anxiety, feelings of anxiety and depression/low mood.
I have a particular interest in neurodiversity (Autism, ADHD). Psychotherapy and counselling are non-diagnostic services, but can help you to explore and understand your unique experience of the world. If you might need adjustments or accommodations in order to make therapy accessible to you please do let me know in your initial enquiry, so that I can let you know what might be possible. These might include accommodations in how information is shared, how to manage transitions into/out of therapy sessions, working online, or how much notice is needed for changes. There are fidget toys in the room, you are welcome to bring your own, and there are no rules about sitting still!
Please note I only work with adults (age 18+).

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
My current fee is £60 per session. I offer a percentage of my sessions as lower cost appointments to those for whom attending therapy would necessitate financial hardship, rather than financial sacrifice. We can talk about your individual circumstances at the initial consultation.
I offer a free initial consultation (either face to face or online) so that we can explore what it might be like for us to work together.
Further information
I offer a free initial session so that we can discuss whether my approach may work for you, and whether we both feel that we are a good fit to work together. Attending an introductory session doesn't commit you to further work, and if I don't think my approach is a good fit for you I will endeavour to signpost you to someone suitable.
Therapy is a commitment and I offer it on an open-ended basis, although shorter episodes of focussed therapy between 8-12 sessions can be very effective and can be agreed in advance if preferred. All our sessions would be at the same time and day of the week.
My practice is in a private self-contained building, set away from the road. There is ample parking. Regrettably the building isn't currently wheelchair accessible.
