About me
I can offer you a warm and welcoming space to unravel your thoughts and explore issues that are troubling you. You may be experiencing feelings of anxiety, depression or being overwhelmed. I will provide a non-judgemental environment where we can work at your pace and you will feel supported and understood.
I work with children, young people and adults offering therapy face to face, via phone or online, whichever you or your child would prefer.
My work with couples provides a space in which two people can discuss their relationship, feelings, problems and frustrations. This is not limited to couples in romantic relationships. I can work with you to help improve communication, resolve conflicts and strengthen the relationship.
Talking together as an individual client coming to see me on a 1:1 basis or coming as a couple, we will work through difficulties getting to a place of acceptance. With support you will be able to move to feelings of being able to cope, understand yourself and your relationships with others.
I offer sessions online, walk and talk, face to face and telephone on most weekdays and some evenings. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your needs. I offer a free initial consultation online in order that I can explain the way in which I work and you can give a brief overview of why you are seeking therapy. If you feel happy we can then discuss mutually convenient days and times to meet.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a BA (hons) degree in counselling. I have also done further training in working with couples. My approach is person centred and non-directive.
I like to do my best to provide a calming environment, I am aware that some clients may feels very anxious and concerned that talking could feel awkward. I help clients feel comfortable and relaxed. I am a trained walk and talk therapist. For some adults being outdoors and using nature and the elements can feel very relaxing. I also use various creative methods if the client would prefer this. With children it may be through play. I also use sand tray therapy and art. Through experience I pride myself in being able to provide a space where clients will be listened to and feel relaxed.
Some clients maybe experiencing a current crisis, coping with processing traumatic events, or difficult experiences from the past. I have had the privilege of working with survivors of trauma, bereavement, abuse, relationship problems, low self-esteem, eating disorders, anxiety, as well as depression. I also work with neurodivergent clients looking at the individual away from the diagnosis and learning to feel comfortable with your authentic self.
My approach is always non-judgemental, friendly, kind, and respectful. We will face challenges, make sense of your thoughts and powerful emotions together, working towards you leading a more contented life. At all times I aim to make you feel safe in order that you can unpack your experiences and unravel your stories.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
