About me
I offer bespoke talking therapy, for individuals and couples, who are going through change, crisis, loss, bereavement, relationship and career challenges. I am trained in EMDR therapy and can offer this powerful psychotherapy for the relief of traumatic memories that have become stuck in the mind and are causing distress.
I am an established Counsellor and Supervisor, accredited with both BACP and NCPS, with a background in mentoring and coaching, and my work is from a psycho-spiritual and holistic perspective. My aim is for my clients to uncover new meaning and understanding about their life from the therapy process that they might wish to take forwards in new directions.
My main interests lie in disordered eating and addictive behaviours, recovery from narcissistic romantic relationships, conflict in families, bullying at work and the debilitating effects of feeling stuck, lost or unable to access choice in your life.
I realise it takes courage to contact a Counsellor and I therefore want to offer you the assurance that I take what I do very seriously and abide by the strictest code of ethics.
I find that my clients experience greater self realisation and positive change by working with me over a concentrated period of time but I do offer one-off sessions for people to find out more and see if counselling will work for them. I have recent training in single session and short term therapy.
I offer face to face therapy primarily, with zoom and telephone counselling, plus walk and talk therapy in my local area.
I practice from my home in Bicton Heath, near Shrewsbury, SY3 5AG. There is parking on the road outside and my practice room is in a quiet and private ground floor room with adjacent cloakroom.
Testimonial from a client:
"My experience of Helen's counselling was extremely positive. Helen immediately demonstrated advanced empathy when I was dealing with an upsetting bullying situation which of course resonated with other situations in my past and some of my present life.
I was held through the eye of the storm which was very adept of Helen as I had 'pressure of speech' due to the degree of angst I was feeling. Helen was able to help me make sense of it all and gave me a feeling of strength and worth which I sorely needed. I was left with tools to deal with the future and the knowledge that I could contact her again if it should be necessary and appropriate.
I would not hesitate to recommend Helen if you needed warm yet entirely professional counselling".

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
