About me
With over 24 years experience, I am extremely passionate about helping and supporting people to improve their emotional wellbeing and mental health in today’s world, where there are so many stresses and strains. I provide a safe, warm, and empathic space, where I work closely with those I am seeing to understand the difficulties they are experiencing so that together we can make sense of these and move towards change. I believe sincerely in evidence-based talking therapies and the power they have to facilitate this. I offer individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults, and therapy for couples and families, too.
I have a wealth of experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma, obsessive compulsive disorder, bereavement, conflictual relationships, low self-esteem, emotional regulation, and neurodivergence. I offer CBT, IPT, ACT, NVR, EMDR, DBT, and systemic practice, and work collaboratively with my clients to determine which feels the best fit for them.
I adopt a holistic, person-centred, compassionate approach to therapy based on the needs of the people I am working with. I am mindful that within a therapeutic relationship, a person must feel safe and contained so that they are able to share and feel held. If you feel ready to begin your therapeutic journey today, please do get in contact for a consultation.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a wealth of experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma, obsessive compulsive disorder, bereavement, conflictual relationships, neurodivergence and children looked after or adopted.
I qualified as a Clinical Social Worker in 2000, initially working for the Social Care sector before moving into Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), where I progressed my career and therapeutic skills by undertaking specialised therapeutic trainings. I have a particular interest and passion in working interpersonally with people and truly believe that relationships can be pivotal in understanding and supporting our emotional well-being.
I hold a Post-Graduate Diploma in Systemic Practice with Families and Couples and advanced training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT/IPTA). In addition, I have been trained to deliver Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR (trauma therapy) and Non Violent Resistance therapy (NVR). I have also completed the National Autism Programme training, and I have a special interest in adapting therapy to meet the needs of neurodivergent people.
Outside of therapeutic practice, I teach at the Anna Freud Centre and UCL on their postgraduate diplomas in IPTA and also Autism and Learning Disabilities, supporting developing therapists on their journeys. I also offer IPT/A supervision.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
