Helen Blackburn, Dip Couns (TA), Reg BACP
Sometimes life can seem overwhelming and difficult to cope with. We can feel stuck in behaviours and emotions that we want to change, but don't know how to. At times like these I can provide a safe, empathetic, and non-judgemental relationship, where you can take the time you need to find new and more harmonious ways of being.
If you’re struggling with difficulties such as anxiety, motivation, depression, trauma or chronic illness, then I can warmly support you to understand and transform your experience and create the life you would like. We will use our first session to explore what it is you're looking for from counselling - and how we might work together. Some of my clients work with me for several years, some for a few months or weeks, depending on the outcome they are seeking to achieve.
My specialist psychotherapy training is in Transactional Analysis. I have also trained in Humanistic Counselling and N.L.P, and have extensive experience in Co-Counselling.
Whilst I work privately with all age groups, I am a volunteer counsellor with clients age 15-25, and work for the agency Here4You, which provides online counselling to young adults living in rural isolation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Areas of counselling I deal with
£30-£50 per 50 minute individual session, £45-£60 per 1 hour couples session.
Fees are payable by cash or bank transfer at the end of each session. Please let me know if you require a receipt for fees paid.
If you need to change or cancel an appointment please let me know as soon as possible – I do charge for missed sessions unless you can give me 48 hours notice or unless we can find an alternative time the same week.
