About me

I'm a UKCP-accredited and BACP registered psychotherapist and Adoption Support Counsellor (Barnardo’s trained) offering individual therapy for adults from a broad range of backgrounds and life experiences. I work in person from practices in Hove and Arundel, and also offer sessions online.

People often come to therapy when something isn't sitting right—whether it's a feeling they can’t shake, a behaviour that keeps repeating, or a life event that’s changed things in a way they’re struggling to make sense of.

In my work, I support people dealing with anxiety, depression, low self-worth, and relationship difficulties. Many clients come to me at a point of transition or reflection—after the end of a relationship, following bereavement, or when a career or role no longer feels sustainable.

Alongside this, I have particular experience in:

Adoption-related issues,
including support for adopted adults, adoptive parents, birth parents and those affected by the long-term emotional impact of adoption
Addiction and substance misuse,
whether you're in active use, early recovery, or seeking to understand your relationship with substances
Late diagnosis of ADHD,
and the emotional aftermath that can follow—relief, frustration, grief, and rethinking the past through a new lens

My approach is warm, thoughtful and collaborative. We begin with what’s happening in the here-and-now—how you're feeling, what’s troubling you—and gradually make space to understand the experiences and patterns that sit beneath. I don’t rush, diagnose or offer quick fixes, but aim instead to create a relationship where you can reflect honestly and make sense of things in your own time.

Therapy can be a quiet but transformative space. It’s not about changing who you are, but about understanding more of yourself—what you’ve carried, how you've coped, and what you might want from your life going forward.

Locations
I offer weekly therapy sessions in person in Arundel and Hove (Sussex), as well as online via Zoom.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Addiction: I have extensive experience working with addiction in its many forms—whether that’s substance use (alcohol, prescription or street drugs, food, or over-the-counter medication) or behavioural patterns such as gambling, love, shopping or internet use.

Addiction often serves a purpose: it can soothe, distract, or numb pain. Rather than focus solely on stopping the behaviour, our work will centre on understanding why the pattern developed and what it might be protecting you from.

I also support those affected by someone else’s addiction—whether you're living with someone in active use or trying to support a loved one in recovery. This can be an isolating and exhausting experience, and you don’t need to navigate it alone.

Adoption (Adults): I’m a qualified Adoption Support Counsellor (trained by Barnardo’s) and offer therapy to anyone affected by adoption—adoptees, adoptive parents, birth parents, special guardians, and extended family members.

Adoption can bring up layered and sometimes conflicting feelings around identity, belonging, loss, and loyalty. These experiences may be spoken or unspoken, recent or long buried. Many people struggle with attachment difficulties rooted in early disruptions, or with the sense that they must manage or minimise their feelings to protect others.

One message I hear often from adult adoptees—and one I understand personally—is the subtle or overt expectation to “be grateful.” This can leave little space to acknowledge what was lost, or to explore feelings of confusion, anger, or grief without guilt.

In therapy, there’s room for all of it. Whether you’re exploring a reconnection, navigating family relationships, or trying to make sense of how adoption has shaped your life, our work can help you listen more closely to your own voice—without apology or explanation.

Neurodiversity: As someone with lived experience of dyslexia and ADHD, I understand how a neurodivergent identity—whether formally diagnosed or self-recognised—can shape how you see yourself. Many people diagnosed later in life describe a mix of clarity and grief, as they look back on years of feeling different without knowing why.

We can work together to explore the impact of masking, low self-esteem, and the internal conflict that often arises from trying to "fit" into a neurotypical world. My aim is to support you in recognising your strengths, making sense of your past, and finding confidence in your own way of being.

Relationship Patterns: Our earliest relationships shape how we relate to others—and to ourselves. You may find yourself getting caught in the same kinds of dynamics: losing yourself in relationships, feeling overly responsible for others’ emotions, avoiding closeness altogether, or struggling to trust.

In therapy, we can explore these patterns without judgment. Understanding how and why you relate in certain ways opens the door to change. Together, we can work on developing boundaries, self-awareness, and more balanced, fulfilling connections—with others, and with yourself.

Grief and Loss: Grief doesn’t follow a set path. It may show up after a bereavement, but it can also arise through romantic or friendship breakups, pet loss, job loss, menopause, ageing, or moments of sudden self-awareness—such as a late ADHD diagnosis.

Grief has no timeline and doesn’t always fade with time. Sometimes it crashes in like a wave, other times it lingers at the edges. Our work will give space to your loss in whatever form it takes, helping you stay connected to what matters while finding steadier ground beneath your feet.

Further information

My approach is rooted in Transactional Analysis, Gestalt therapy, and other humanistic models, which together bring depth and flexibility to the work we do. I don’t believe that one size fits all in therapy.

Instead, I draw from a range of theories and perspectives—more a thoughtful blend than a fixed method—tailored to support your individual needs. The aim is to help you gain clarity, build emotional resilience, and move toward a greater sense of self-understanding and acceptance.
